I did give our nanny a raise after a year although she did not ask for it and was appreciative. I also look at other things. She obviously gets paid for holidays but since my husband and I are from abroad and get 30 days a year we're never here on those dates so she has a better holiday agreement than other people do as well coming to 6 full weeks. This means she can also travel to her country for at least 2 weeks if I notify her of our absences in advance which we do. Have always been flexible and if I get home early she leaves early as well! I think it is a give and take and not all is money. She also got a one week Christmas bonus in cash, so net, and in a troubled situation we advanced her money as well so I know that she is happy with us and so are we. Being such a vital part of our life is not all about money.
