Is it worse than Starbucks or another estate agent?

Isn't the flight centre in the old fat face property? Does anyone know if anything is going to open in the Jamie Oliver shop? It seems to have been vacant for a while.

You need more caffeine - get yourself down to Starbucks. :-)

I also noticed Printax was closing down - seems to be lots of change at the moment.

Flight Centre is a terrible shop for Northcote, why would anyone not buy flights online these days?
I encourage everyone to give it a wide berth so they vacate the slot swiftly and offer it up to a worthwhile store.

In defence of Flight Centre, I've used them twice recently and found them to be very good. If you have a multi-stop, group or a flight originating outside of the UK they can access information you can't get on say Expedia. Their staff were very friendly too.

I'm not sure what constitutes a 'worthwhile store' but it's better than yet another estate agent or coffee shop surely?

I know the thread asks for positive suggestions, but I wonder if there is a way to actually ban any more estate agents? Surely there is some sort of community agency that can keep any more of them out? They contribute nothing to our community, keep out vital retail diversity, and there are ENOUGH ALREADY.

To be fair to estate agents, Jonathan from Hamptons seems to contribute a lot to the area and community - he leads the organisation of the Northcote road fete and the sponsorship of the hanging baskets which makes the area look a little prettier. But I agree, I'd rather not have yet another one popping up in the area, we have quite enough already...

It's not so much the number of estate agents (although my heart always sinks when I see a new one opening) but the fact that they seem to take the largest retail units - Savills took the old Letterbox and Hamptons are in the old carpet shop, and now the Flight Centre have taken the Fat Face shop. But I think we have to accept that as long as more and more of our purchases are made online we can't expect retail shops to be able to continue as they always have. I wish we had more cafes and restaurants - the ones we have just aren't that great. I wish All Bar One would go and be replaced by something more family friendly, although I guess we have to accept that we co-habit this area with a parallel universe of young and trendy 20-somethings who like to go to go out for a good time with their mates. It never fails to amaze me how Northcote Road is transformed into a hip and happening place on a warm summer's evening.

Hi Julian
Just a note to say thank you so much for the great feedback and for giving us a try! You're right, we do have a lot of product you can't find on-line and think we're much friendlier than the internet :D :D look forward to helping you out with your next adventure!

Printax and image to image closing has been a real shame.. We had to trek all the way to snappy snaps to get passport photos done today.. Perhaps flight centre could offer this service?!

Given the increase in teenagers that the BA is bringing, it would be great to see more stores catering for them. An H&M in the old Jamie Oliver shop would be great and some younger boutiques on NC fab.

There is an H&M, Primark and TK Maxx in Southside shopping centre (which is expanding) which is really not far away from Northcote rd; there is a TK Maxx next to Debenhams in CJ.
I would personally hate a high street shop in the like of H&M in the area.

Anybody knows why Mayoral closed? They were not too expensive clothes

JD Sports is now gone from Clapham Junction location. Fortunately Sports Direct now has part of Debenham's 3rd floor. Saves a trip to Southside.
