Family Lawyer - experienced with Italian Law Post Reply

If anyone is or can recommend a good family lawyer that can assist regarding guidance of child maintenance support and changing a long standing voluntary payment that I had legal signed off for a now teenager in Italy I would be most grateful.

I am a UK national and reside in the UK but lived in Italy for 7 years back in 2000 and had a child with someone I was never in a relationship with.

At the time I was a very successful business man but since then my circumstances financially have changed considerably and I have a new family with young children. Using the English child support calculator I am currently paying 15+ times what I would be expected to pay a month in the UK. I have been finding it hard for a long time to keep making such a high payment and as a result my current family have had to go without and make constant sacrifices.

If anyone knows of a good lawyer that has dealt with similar issues in Italy I would be most grateful to hear from you.

I am sorry i dont know anyone I can recommend, I just thought that you got a horrible answer for your question. I am sure it is a very hard situation and the most i would say is make sure you think long term about the relationship you want with your child. I witnessed an adult child asking ger dad where was he all those years and that was awful. The child was genuily asking for answers and the father was genuinely lost for words. Such a miss relationship.

As you say it’s not about not financially supporting my daughter or seeing her every agreed opportunity - the time is the most important thing which I can give. I want the best for her. It’s about that support being reasonable and reflecting the change in circumstance and recognising my other children that aren’t Italian citizens which I’m not sure the law does.

“Such a missed relationship”. Try going to Ethiopia in 1985 and see heartbreaking things happen then. As I did. Or my mother see her brother for the last time at a forced labour camp in Eastern Europe in 1942.That’s horrible and put everything into perspective.

Shame on you.
