When people realize the biggest racists and anti Semites anti Muslims anti Black anti Gay and anti Woman are Boris, Rees Mogg and their ilk with their links to Steve Bannon and his White Supremacist Partners in Crime, it might be too late. Jews getting shot in the US, Muslims in Mosques in New Zealand. I have no care for what some religious extremist orthodox Rabbi who is nothing but a stooge and supporter of Netanyahu's behaviour has to say. Religious extremists should stay out of British politics. There are plenty of Jews Chomsky, Bernie Sanders, Finkelstein, Jacqueline Rose Illan Pappe who will disagree that Corbyn and the Labour party are Anti Semitic. Meanwhile the Conservative party can get away with open racism and hostility.

Best for Britain has good recommendations for Tactical Voting to thwart Boris Johnson and company's reckless path toward a no deal which will not bring us certainty, it plunge us into debt and uncertainty. Experts and financial analysts have warned us
The Conservatives are going to lead anyway but we need to weaken them.

You enter your postcode and it will recommend which to go for.

For Battersea, Tooting and Putney the recommendation is Labour. For Chelsea and Hammersmith, Kensington and Richmond it says vote for Liberal Democrats.

Forget about Corbyn and these stupid smear campaigns
in the media.
Least of our worries.

Thanks to everyone for the positive contributions, good to see the post top of the 'most read' threads.

It's great to see so much media focus on tactical voting and vote swapping too, it seems many more people are aware of it and considering it.

I've managed another two vote swaps today. I've done another Labour in London vote for a Lib dem vote in Lewes. This is exactly the same as my swap and it's a fairly easy one for me to arrange because most of my London friends are centrists and inclined to the lib dems, plus there are lots of sensible Labour voters in Lewes who realise their vote is otherwise wasted.

I've also hopefully done a swap with a Green Lady in Putney (voting tactically labour), and someone in my family, who'll vote Green for them in Brighton Pavillion. Caroline Lucas is dead impressive and will smash that seat, so you could argue she doesn't need any more votes (and I will indeed from now on be pointing greens towards swaps with the Isle of Wight), but it's great that a green voter gets to elect a green MP (let's face it, bit of a rarity), and the extra vote for Cllr Fleur in Putney has real value too.

Please have a think about whether you know anyone in a marginal seat - Richmond Park, Guildford, Canterbury, Cheltenham, Warwick, St Ives - lots more on  https://www.compassonline.org.uk/compas ... -hotspots/

Can your parents or other members of your family be convinced to vote swap? Really worth trying. If anyone would like a more detailed explanation of how vote swapping works and what their options might be, feel free to DM with a phone number and I'll talk you through it.

"I have an idea, I am going to pretend to do vote swapping with someone and then ignore their preference and choose someone else on my Ballot"

I feel swapping is totally flawed (and wrong) ... I might do this now 😂

Guy, you seem to have have an issue with most of our Democratic system if it doesn't go your way.

Did you know that the reason we give the seat to the person with the largest single number of votes(First Past the Post), is because "our system has evolved from a time before mass party politics. It was designed to choose community representatives and that is why it's called the House of Commons. The most popular members of those communities were individuals representing key interests in their constituencies."
Any other system would be parachuting in random people that may have no ideas about the issues of the area they now have to represent (and maybe only for a few years).

It is a very sensible system from that point of view

Can't help thinking that vote swapping is wrong and probably should be make illegal.

The vote swapping site https://www.swapmyvote.uk/ cleverly links people on social media so you can check each other out and many people's political inclinations are fairer clear from their twitter and facebook feeds these days. You can also chat to your swappee on the phone and see what else you might have in common, which is what I did and I trust my lady in Lewes completely.

I won't deny there's miniscule scope for subversion but in the vast majority of cases, the two party's interests are intrinsically aligned. In my case, both our votes will be wasted if we were to vote anything other than that which we've pledged.

I just got a chance to give Swap my vote a plug on James O'Brien's LBC show, so I hope many tens of thousands of people heard about it across the country. If you're a remainer in constituency with a huge Tory majority, make your vote count for something more. I'm very proud my 76 year old mum is doing it and has a swap to help a Lib dem in the west country.

I understand what you are saying but I don’t believe people were fully aware of what Brexit meant . I think rather than live with remorse for the next 50 years a second referendum would clear the air . If leave wins then so be it . But if Remain wins then I think it’s a good thing that we didn’t go with the first decision . Other countries re do referendums why can’t we ?

Also vote swapping only attracts single issue fanatics on the principle of Plato's "The Noble Lie" (you lie because you are convinced and fanatical that your cause is the only just one) ..your single issue could be "Get Corbyn In" or "Stop Brexit".

The chances are your "Swapee" will also be a "Single Issue Fanatic" - so will lie to you too as has happened with the OPs vote-swap...

They made their case for Voting Labour then persuaded their swapee that they were actually voting "LibDem" (or in the radio interview that they were a "Natural LibDem Voter")...so the swappee swaps under false pretences.

I have lost count of the number of their false swaps promised for the fanatical belief of Stopping Brexit...

Sir John Curtice the BBCs  expert in electoral behaviour feels that although Tactical Voting is difficult to predict the Tactical voters on both sides will tend to cancel each other out.

As I say - the "Noble Lie"

It would help more if the pro remain/ anti hard Brexit parties would co operate for the greater goid. The advice for Kensington is vote Labour but the Lib Dems are still dropping leaflets at this late hour. It will backfire and split the vote. Very frustrating to see this lack of co operation 😤as we know The Conservatives will gain more seats than any others

All I can say is,  it is to be hoped that a decisive result tomorrow will silence the moaners on this site for good,  and that they will learn to respect the verdict of the majority in a democratic society.

I'll add this - none of these leaders are worth losing friends over.

Exactly Julian, its voting for who you think is he 'least worst'  😩

I feel that the law of unintended consequences will come into play with vote swapping.

Vote for what YOU feel and who YOU believe in (no party is perfect), if there is no Party or Independent,  just spoil the ballot paper and send your message that way.

But please make sure you Vote, many countries don't get the privilege we do.

I have avoided talking on this thread, but I feel there are several points raised here I need to speak my piece on, particularly if you're coming at this from an anti-Brexit (just had to edit this from anti-EU, whoops!) point of view. Apologies, this is a little long.

1. Jeremy Corbyn’s stance on Brexit. He has been vociferously anti-EU almost his entire political life. From a voting record point of view, he's probably more anti-EU than Jacob Rees Mogg. His sudden and very recent pro-EU epiphany smacks of an opportunistic and cynical power grab as he knows the Remain contingent is very strong within his party.

2. As others have pointed out here, and following on from point 1, Labour in general is very ambiguous on its position regards Brexit, even now. This is apparently a deliberate strategy, to appeal to all sides. It may even work, as a good-sized part (though certainly not all) of the Labour vote is tribal, and will vote for the party regardless of their Brexit stance. Evidence of very deep untrustworthiness, and it is extremely unclear which way they will land regards Brexit if they gain power.

3. Hung Parliament scenario. Jo Swinson has categorically ruled out any potential coalition with Labour in the event of this happening.  Considering how badly the Lib Dems have fared recently when it comes to coalitions, I do not believe she is bluffing. Labour may not need them though, which raises the question, who will they form a coalition with? The SNP? Their price will be very high indeed, and that’s assuming they and Labour can agree on anything which is very far from certain.

4. 2nd referendum. People didn't know what they were voting for. Do they know now? What if they vote the wrong way? Again? And if the first one was only advisory, doesn't that make the second one advisory as well? In which case, what's the point of having it?

5.  The economy. Most Remainers are appalled by Brexit, as it represents in their view an inevitable economic disaster. So it is rather odd that some of them would be prepared to vote, tactically of course, for a party which most of us can agree is populated by Marxists at the very highest level. If anyone really thinks that our economy is safe in the hands of people who openly say they want to destroy capitalism, well, good luck with that one.

6. Tolerance/inclusion. Hooh, boy, where do we start? Another criticism of Brexit was that it was born out of small minded intolerance. So if you’re someone who is disgusted by bigotry in all its forms, I find it peculiar that the current incarnation of Labour is something you would vote for. Since being founded, the Equality and Human Rights Commission to date has investigated only two political parties for institutional racism. One was the BNP. The other is Labour, for whom an investigation into anti-Semitism is ongoing, though evidence unearthed so far is pretty stomach churning. Someone here also mentioned the need to vote Labour in Kensington. I encourage you to look up what the Rt Hon Emma Dent-Coad had to say once about Shaun Bailey. Good old garden variety racism, for which she was only asked to apologise for by the leadership (the whip was not withdrawn).

The New Statesman, to their credit, has been calling Labour out for this for some time, and has withdrawn their support for the Labour party for the first time in its history. Examine that fact if you will, and while you’re at it, examine your consciences. Deeply.

Well, hey Greengrass, it's really interesting that your VERY FIRST post on this forum is a long and highly political one, at a crucial time, which seeks to conflate a number of issues and sow dischord among remain and Labour. I think you're a fake account.

Care to tell us your favourite local pub and why?

What do you think of your Parliamentary candidates, whatever constituency you're in?

What's your street?

So, just to correct your opening statement, you haven't 'avoided talking on this thread', you've avoided being part of this community at all, it would seem, until just now of course.

I smell a rat.
