I'm sorry to hear of your challenges but it's great that you're being proactive and looking at the best options.

I've had many clients over the years who have been very pleased with the Lister, they are very professional and offer an excellent service. However, it's worth remembering that people's views may depend on whether they have a successful outcome or not so it's important to feel confident in your own conclusions and gut instinct as to which clinic is best for you.

If you're feeling anxious about it all then I'd be happy to speak to you - I'm a clinical hypnotherapist, specialising in fertility, pregnancy and birth for the past 20 years.

Hypnotherapy can be a gamechanger for many women/couples as it will help to create the positive mindset and environment that is needed for conception. The techniques and positive mindset often lead to physical change in the body.  You've probably heard stories of women conceiving 'when they'd stopped trying', 'when they moved house/changed job', 'when they moved on from an emotional situation' or were no longer making pregnancy their one and only priority.

A positive mindset can really help you feel better and can even make all the difference to getting pregnant or not.

Feel free to contact me for a chat, no obligations, simply to find out more.
Wishing you all the best,
Kristin :)

As an "older mum" who went through several rounds of IVF for number 2, I wish you best of luck on the very emotional and, let's be honest, draining journey that IVF invariably is.

I just want to say something that I hope won't come across as unsupportive: at 43, the probabilities are not on your side. You might be lucky, but you may not.

If your objective is to have two children, please keep in mind donor egg conception. I ended up resorting to that for number two, after trying unsuccessfully with my own eggs (started IVF at 42 for second one, having conceived and given birth to the first one at 40 with no issues). It was also an emotional journey, and a big feeling of failure for not being to have my "own" (genetically) child, and worries if my two children will feel "different", given only the second one was donor-egg conceived. However, now my second is nearly four years old, I wouldn't change it for anything, because, of course, they are my child, whom I carried and loved from the very beginning.

I have been lucky to meet other women in the same situation since giving birth, although when I was going through the process, it felt like a very shameful / secretive thing to do. We used a clinic in the Czech republic. If anyone wants a private chat on the topic, please feel free to PM me.

Best of luck,
M

Hello Mumof2_BTC - I'd love to have a private chat if the offer is still there. I'm in a similar boat to you and considering DEIVF but don't know where to start. I'm new to NV and not sure how to PM either. Thank you.

Hi ladies - for those of you that were about to start or are in the process of IVF treatment. I hope it's all going well. I'm about to start the prep for a frozen transfer at the Lister (following a retrieval in October). I'm 42. Would love to hear how you're all getting on. I'm also interested to hear from anyone with experience of using a donor egg, I would like to explore this path also (as a plan B) but don't know where to start. Thank you in advance.

I had several rounds of IVF at the Lister and had Dr Thum who I highly recommend. He’s amazing and so very kind. Please do not give up. Best of luck with your journey.

Yes Lister is good. Was referred by my obs & gynae doc who in fact chose it for himself and his wife. We had successful first round, then another successful first round, then successful second round, then final failed first round after which the money tree died. By the last round I was older but in a bit of a rut as had had such good results with the Lister. If I could go back to the last round I would have switched to Taranisi.
Also found it hard to inject to begin with, very counter-intuitive, but I was v motivated and my brother is diabetic and used to have to do it all the time so I had a word with myself about how flippin lucky I was to have IVF as an option and was soon doing it with my eyes closed. Well, almost.
