Nurseries - Clapham South

Postby HoneyB » Mon Jul 11, 2011 9:01 pm

I am currently expecting my first child at the end of the year and have been advised by friends to start looking into nurseries now for when I plan to return to work full-time in Oct 2012 as they all have waitlists!

We are based near Abbeville Road and I commute from Clapham South so would ideally need somewhere not too far away. I have Elm Park, Nightingales and Grove Hall on my list. Would be grateful for any additional recomendations in the area and also any views on those listed.

Many thanks!

This might be a bit out of your way, but my son goes to, and loves, Woodentops on Thornton Road.

my daughter went to nightingales day nursery for 2.5 years and loved it. It is like a family as it is so small. With such small numbers they learn very fast too. I couldn't recommend it more.

my son went to Grovehall for around 2 years. He was OK but really enjoyed only in the past 6 months or so. Now he goes to Abacus on Cavendish road... best nursery on earth. easygoing and relaxed people. I will send my little one there too in August.

Hi HoneyB, I would wholeheartedly recommend Clapham Park Montessori which is moving to the Contact Centre on Hambalt Rd (off Abbeville Rd). Amazing staff. My first daughter went there and loved every minute, still talks about her teachers. Best of luck.

Elm Park all the way! I cannot recommend this place enough - it was wonderful for my boys! We started there in 2002 and our last day was in 2009 so we had a long time with them! My friend cried on her daughter's last day. Visit them all, I'd probably choose the nursery which is most convenient - sounds shallow but you've got to have a stressfree start and end to the day - it can make a huge difference to you both! :D
