Taking children to New York - hotel advice

Postby Feathers » Fri Nov 17, 2023 2:01 pm

Thinking of taking the children for a the Easter break to NYC, my children are DESPERATE to go!!
Does anyone have any reasonably priced recommendations for hotels where the children can be in the living area of a suite or in an interconnecting room? They're 11,9 and 6 so one room doesn't work anymore.

We stayed at The Kimberly for 2 weeks in the summer. Not the fanciest hotel ( old school interiors) but great value, large rooms, kitchenette, really friendly doormen and v good value when it come to NYC “tiny “ hotel rooms. Highly recommend for a family!

It’s in Turtle Bay Area of Manhattan ( right behind where the Waldorf is being renovated atm), has a lovely little supermarket nearby etc.

The Marriott Marquis on Times Square is massive and also has some big rooms (for Manhattan). Otherwise suggest Brooklyn or an Airbnb over the bridges but you will then be spending a small fortune on taxis.

Have a look at the Beacon hotel on the Upper West Side. I lived in New York many years ago on the Upper West Side. It’s a residential neighbourhood but very near to Central Park and on great subway lines that whisk you to wherever you want to go - or you can just walk. If you’re feeling flush the Trump on Columbus Circle is great but you might have to hold your nose at the name!

What about TRYP by Wyndham at Times Square? It has family rooms and is well located. I’m happy to help if you would like some more ideas 😊

We had a wonderful family holiday to NY a few years ago.
