Anyone know of a service who will collect unwanted furniture ? as well as other rhings such as old broken TV, bookshelves, cabinets etc.

British Heart Foundation does a very efficient service of furniture collections from your home, to sell in their shops, but check their website first as to what they'll take.

If not, then I've found Freecycle very good for finding homes for unwanted stuff - again it gets picked up from your door. But I think you will need to take the broken tv to the tip for recycling in the electricals section.
