I can't sleep

Postby LTS » Mon Nov 14, 2011 1:58 pm

Does anyone have some good advice on how to go to sleep?
I know it sounds crazy but as tired as I am with a 5 month old and 2 year old I really struggle to fall asleep.
My 5 month old is still waking once (occasionally twice) a night but is pretty good at feeding and then back to sleep......but I am still awake an hour later!
I have never been a brilliant sleeper but it's never been this bad. I am just tossing and turning unable to switch off knowing that i have less and less time until he wakes again.
He has been pretty inconsistent in the times that he wakes for a feed despite a routine day and bed time and I guess the unpredictability doesn't help.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Any suggestions on what to do?

I totally sympathise. With a 3 and 1 year old my biggest problem is me not getting sleep. At least now not breastfeeding I can take sleeping tablets, but when I was feeding I found that 'sleepy rain' cds really helped and calm yogic breathing and not stressing about it. Good luck.

I have the same problem, and only have one 14-month old. I've found both yoga and massage help, as well as taking a bath before bed. You can also try keeping a To Do list - it helps me shut off my brain if I know that I have a list of what I need to tackle the next day. Good luck, it's awful not being able to sleep when you're so exhausted!
