Recommendations for a basement sofa please!

Postby njm123 » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:38 pm

Hi - can anyone help me? I am looking to get a largeish comfy sofa for my basement playroom - only problem is access round a tight corner and down a narrow staircase! Have today had to send back a Dwell sofa that the delivery men could not/would not get down the stairs. Can anyone recommend a modular sofabed/chaise which can be delivered through a tricky access area - oh and is comfortable too! Maybe all too much to ask for, but any comments greatly appreciated. Has anyone tried Nabru who I found online?

Hi Groucho have you tried Loungin on Battersea Rise? They make any of their sofas in any size and can do pretty much anything eg make it all come apart for easy access etc. Gav's your man up there. Good luck.

We got our modular sofa from Heals. It's good because it links together so you don't fall down the cracks between the units! It's not a sofa bed but is really comfy as a single bed.

Roche babois do very low, comfy but difficult to get up from modular sofas.

Or if you order something from John Lewis, they send someone in to make sure they can actually get the sofa in. We ordered a sofa bed from them (not expensive) and they sent someone round to look at the access as it was a difficult place to get to with a turn on the stairs (though actually the guy who came to check it didn't actually measure and the delivery guys who subsequently came to deliver it didn't think it would fit after all (they just about did it in the end!)

Have a look at Made.com, they have a great modular sofa that won't break the bank (presumably you won't want to be too precious about your playroom sofa)
Made.com make all kinds of great stuff that costs a fortune on the high street.
It's a great company philosophy too.
