Anyone with feedback on Blundells Nursery?

Postby jodesy00 » Sat Jan 28, 2012 2:05 pm

Has anyone been to view, or had experience with Blundells Day Nursery, SW11? I am going to visit on Monday, however personal experiences/opinions would be appreciated.

Hi. I visited it for my LO as we have quite a few friends who highly recommend it, but it wasn't for us as I needed a nursery from approx 7 months and they start at 18 months.

In saying that I thought the set up was lovely, the children seemed extremely happy and I liked that they offered extra curricular actitivities e.g. ballet classes, plus they went on excursions. The price was quite reasonably too, especially compared to some of the other local nurseries.

The only downside was that there was only a small outside space with one plastic slide. It may have only been the day I visited but there didn't seem to be really any other outdoor play equipment and that was important to me, but might not be to you.

Oh and the other thing I thought was excellent was that once the children commence school they could go back during holiday time until they were 8 or 9. If your working this is excellent!

Hope this is of some help.

my son went there and I would highly recommend it, the best day nursery in the SW11 area. And a good value for money compared to other day nurseries' fees! The permanent staff are also very good and caring. The outdoor space is small but children always go out and in the Summer they use a playground area close by. Also, my son did not speak English when he started and the support was excellent! Hope it helps.

Thanks for both of your comments - that's very reassuring as I'm about to go back to work, and my LO will be 18 mths next month and she'll start going there with a nanny, which I've only just hired too. I was worried that with the wrong nursery, it would all be too much of a shock to the system, but your comments have put my mind at rest!

Hi there
Just wanted to add that my daughter went there from about 19 months old until she was 2. I can't recommend it highly enough. We only took her out because we were moving and I was so happy with how she got on there that I cried when I gave in our notice!! They are really caring and look after the children so well. Our little one even used to talk about the staff at the weekends!
I don't think you'll regret putting your child there for a second. Say hello to Miss Sheila from Anna and Molly for me, will you?!

Sort of reviving an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what their wait list is like right now. My little boy will be 18 mos in Oct and while we've been really happy with our nanny situation, I'm starting to think that he would benefit from a learning environment and Blundells sounds like just what were looking for.
Am I dreaming to think he might get a place for October? Are here any similar learning centred nurseries in the area?

when I went there a few weeks ago , they said that they try to be adjusting and always offer spaces that they have available . It seemed to me that you dont neccessarily have to pre-register.
Definitely worth calling and checking with them .

One of the reasons they are so popular is that they have excellent links to a lot of private schools around and prep the children accordingly for school admissions.
