My friends had their two bay trees stolen from Belleville Road a couple of weeks ago. Plus my side return break in (stolen bike) and the increase in broken car window glass I've seen around we really do have to keep an eye out for each other.

I'm very p++++d off too

Boojackson I just sent you a message - I am in the area too so they must have driven up and down these streets last night and stolen all window boxes and plants. Please let me know what the police say - not that there is much they can do I guess!

What number are you ringing them on ? I will call them too !

Oh no, really- window boxes??? Who does this?! Just curious, were they just standard window boxes or were they 'fancy' ones? I am hearing more and more about these property crimes around here lately. Just a couple of weeks ago our neighbour's motorbike was badly damaged and had its petrol stolen, and our motorbike (parked right next to it) had been tampered with.

Just put my window boxes out- hope they stay there. :(

Madcurls no they weren't that expensive - I think the window box cost me about £15 plus about £15 worth of plants. Possibly the Bay Tree was the most expensive thing.

I am just speechles that someone would stoop so low as to steal window boxes. I wonder where they will be selling them !

Bankofdad great idea - I guess it means that you have to buy a wodden or a metal pot ? We are completely DYI deficient in our household so anyone out there that knows a good handyman please let me know !

HM (or not so happy today!!!)

It's totally unbelievable what people do!!

Our friend on Alfriston had his motorbike stolen (lifted and put into a waiting van) about a month ago and the next night, they came and took his neighbours!!!

Lights that come on at the front are a good idea. Would be interesting to see what response you get from the local police.

GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. What scumbags.
This happened to me too - but about 3 years ago & am sad that it seems to have started up again. They also only stole the middle one of my window boxes & left the two on the side!!!!! It annoyed & saddened me more than when my bikes were stolen as it just seems so low, petty & damn well rude. Police were unhelpful as stolen window boxes figure quite low on list of crimes & priorities (which I quite understand), although they did offer to come & do a check on whole house & give us any tips.
I am going to be extra vigilant when I am out & about!

My expensive bicycle was also stolen from our side passage a few weeks ago. Police said that these opportunistic crimes are definitely increasing. Am really cross, of course that was not covered by the insurance.

Yep, I have just had 4 Bay Trees dug up from my front garden on Lyminge Gardens SW18. This so common - some thing needs to be done. I am contacting to police...

Spotted this on the Telegraph on Monday....

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... ieves.html

Also someone sent me this link.

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=ho ... orthpolice

I spoke to the police and they caught the guy on the 27th April so if your trees were stolen after this date chances are that its another thief (although the guy they caught is out on bail so I guess it could be him ?).

Anyway worth a call .... my planter is getting firmly bolted to the ground at the weekend !

Have a look here - the police have arrested a bay tree thief from this area and no-one is claiming the trees. Are they yours?
