Trying for baby number two

Postby DDJJ » Wed Aug 15, 2012 3:51 pm

We've been trying for baby number two for a while now and I'd like to do what I can to make it happen soon. I've had one healthy baby so I'm hoping it's just taking a bit longer this time, rather than anything is wrong.

I've heard acupuncture is really helpful with fertility...can any of you recommend anyone locally? I'd be really grateful as it's hard to just pick someone from an internet search.

Sorry to hear it's taking a while. Although I have only tried acupuncture while pregnant I know people that swear by it for fertility. The awareness centre in Abbieville Rd have a great lady who specializes in fertility acupuncture called Judy Holt http://www.theawarenesscentre.com/acupu ... m_sw4.html You could also try doing a fertility yoga course, but not easy when you already have a little one I know! http://www.qiyoga.org.uk/fertility.html

Good luck, hope it all works out well for you soon

Have you tried ovulation sticks? They are brilliant.

I went to Andrea for fertility reflexology at Treat in Balham, after 3 months I was pregnant (had been trying for 12 months).

That plus, we stopped "trying" for a few months (ie to take the pressure off) and it happened whilst we were away on holiday and weren't clock watching.....

Good luck - its a horrid wait x

One thing to think about with baby number two is the amount of fats you have in your diet. Fertility is often very related to maternal nutrition as you need enough nutrients for the baby to grow properly and baby number 1 can often deplete this. Make sure you're getting good quality fats in your diet - coconut oil (2+TBSP daily) is a fantastic choice as it is metabolised in a different way to normal fats (i.e. not through bile breakdown), so even people with a compromised digestive system can absorb it. Avocado, oily fish and olive oil are also good choices.

Vitamin D, vitamin A and vitamin K are also increasingly being linked to fertility. Supplementing vitamin D3 (as it's difficult to get enough from food sources or the sun in this country!) and eating organ meats such as liver 1x a week (make sure it's from a good quality source) and green leafy veg, will ensure you're getting these vitamins.

I see a number of women for fertility treatment and combine nutritional advice and herbal medicine for fertility - www.revaclinic.com or call/ email for more information if you're interested 0207 589 6414 lucy@revaclinic.com. I can just do a one-off hour and a half consultation for dietary recommendations if that's preferable. I'm based in Thurloe Street, South Kensington.
