Balance Bikes

Postby lamj1974 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:18 pm

Hi

Can anybody recommend a good Balance Bike please? We are keen to get one for our daughter but there seem to be so many on the market and not sure which one to go for.

Thanks so much.

We got the wooden Joey Hudora balance bike and our son loves it. It was about £50 as far as I recall and had very good internet reviews. Evans cycles will assemble it for you if you order from them.

We had a wooden classic likeabike and were very pleased with it.
I often wondered whether the weight of a wooden balance bike would help, giving the child more stability as they got momentum, or whether it would make it more difficult.
if anyone has an opinion on the subject or has used a metal one, which looks lighter to me, and found it easier to get started, I would be happy to hear from you too!

We had a Puky balance bike which is metal and good quality. It also had a brake. I am not sure if all balance bikes have this. It lasted very well until it was time to upgrade to a pedal bike. We went for the same brand as we were very pleased with it.
