I know we've had a topic under Best Restaurant but can anyone recommend one for their steaks?

My husband is a meat loving Aussie and is desperate for a good steak on our date this weekend.

My husband recommends Santa Maria Del Sur which is well known and local as well...

Sophie's Steakhouse on Fulham Road Meat-loving South African hubby, who claims to be a bit of a steak connoisseur, swears that they do the best steaks in London...and, to be fair, just the thought of their Porterhouse is leaving me with a craving for one!

Apparently Locale in Balham do a good steak (although I am veggie) so just passing on what a friend said xx

Fyre on Garratt Lane in Earlsfield is quite good - especially according to my husband, who likes his steak

If you're after a really good steak but not fussed about how smart the venue is then you should try Jack's Place. It's a little gem that once found you keep going back. Great food, very generous portions and still family run.

Best steak in London for us is the Pope's Eye on Upper Richmond Road Putney. It's a small restaurant with paper table cloths, just steak on the menu and an extensive red wine list with a great house red! Friendly servers and gorgeous sticky toffee pudding and the chips are to die for. My husband and I try to go there as often as we can!

I would highly recommend Preto in Putney for a Brazillian churrascaria experience. I don't even eat steak but the meat is amazing. It's buffet plus grilled meat brought to your table on huge skewers. Go when you're hungry.

The Althorp on Bellevue Road does delicious rib-eye steaks with amazing chips and sauces - in a really cosy, publike atmosphere

You're absolutely spoilt for choice in this area, but I second the Santa Maria del Sur recommendation. Amazing.

Butcher and Grill in Battersea is brilliant too, and they also have (as name suggests) a butcher's shop so you can buy your own delicious steak there and cook at home.

Just to add, had a really good steak recently at Gaslight Grill on Battersea Park Rd recently. They have a really massive range of complementary sauces to choose from too.

Wow thanks everyone!

Two votes for Santa Maria del Sur on the thread so I think we'll try it out.

It's actually our wedding anniversary (which I thought was last week!) Looking on the website they have live music on a Monday, I hope it's not too loud for a romantic meal!

I'll definitely keep in mind the other recommendations for future.
