veggie restaurants

Can anyone recommend any good vegetarian restaurants in the area? Or those that offer a wide selection of healthy veggie options at least? I am tired of eating pasta and risotto!

Not a veggie but if you like vegetarian Indian food (the best I reckon) then there are lots of excellent places in Tooting. I think there is a post on here about them somewhere. You could also try Brixton Village...it's cooler/hipper than anywhere else south of the river so must be some decent veggie places there though can only vouch for the non veggie menus!
If you want to push the boat out I'd say the best restaurant in SW is Trinity in Clapham Old Town...I think they publish menus on their site so have a look.

The Gate!

Highly, highly, highly reccomend! I know it's Hammersmith and not Clapham and I'd personally love to know some amazing ones here but if you've never tried The Gate in Hammersmith then please do. It is out of this world!

We are a veggie family so spend a lot of time looking for nice places to eat out. Asian food is a big fav of ours and our kids. There is a new Vietnamese place in Putney Old Saigon which we tried last week. It was v good, inexpensive and the kids loved it. We like Dim Sum at Royal China in Fulham & The Banana Leaf on Northcote Road too. The Gate is fab as is the River Cafe if you are after posh nosh.

Definitely The Gate. Amazing flavours and delicious food, and I am normally a carnivore!

I recently had a lovely meal at Meza in near Tooting Bec station. Being Lebanese there are several vegetarian options on the menu.

Its quite small, so its best to book in advance.

Ignore the recommendations for The Gate, it closed in May for a refit and isn't reopening until next year (was supposed to open now-ish but has been delayed) They do have another branch in Islington and it is worth the schlep.

There's not much locally that's exclusively veggie other than Indian, but I've had a couple of good, inventive dishes at Avalon. It's a bit hit and miss, though.

There is a vegan deli that opened up a few months ago on Webbs Road between the commons (just across from Belleville School). I am a meat eater, but have enjoyed their sandwiches/wraps. With such a specialised market on a small street I figure they need all the business they can get.
