Can anyone recommend a Careers Adviser??

Postby northcote dad » Thu Oct 18, 2012 1:18 pm

I am a mid-30yrs married father of two children and looking for a change of job/direction from my current city based job - but at a total loss as to what job/industries to consider. Changing jobs at this stage in life (and in this economy) is not the easiest thing to do but I desperately need to find a better/happier job.

Careers Advisers at school/uni never really filled me with confidence (maybe if I had listened to them I would be in a better job now!!) but I wondered if anyone had direct experience of a similar type adviser/consultant that would be worth having a chat with based on my current stage in life and dilemmas.

thanks

Hi there
one of our friends is a careers advisor, he works for one of the london universities (not sure which one actually!) - sorry but not sure from your email if you are thinking of becoming a careers advisor, or if you want to chat to one to try to figure out your job situation. either way, i'm sure he would be happy to chat to you.

Incase I wasn't clear, I need to talk to someone about my future. I need a change of job/direction and thought talking to someone neutral could help shed some light on what sort of jobs I should be aiming for that would give me more satisfaction/happiness. I hear some of these advisors/consultants can also run various psychometric type tests as well as chatting in order to get a fuller picture of someones character as well as their skills etc.

Hi Northcote Dad

I am a Career Coach and would be delighted to help you. I live in Battersea and have my office in West London. I use the psychometric tool The Birkman Method which is fantastic at helping clients identify the most fulfilling career for them. I work face to face and over the phone depending on your preference. You can find out more about me at my business website which is www.combinedinsight.com Please do get in touch if you would like more details.
Best wishes

Hi - I used to work in the city & have completely changed direction into a portfolio career. Once you've spoken to someone to discover where you want to go with your career, you might have a look at my web site http://www.2mins.co.uk to look at an opportunity which might suit you. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about it. Best wishes / Clare
