We have decided to go away for the last week in August and are looking for any helpful suggestions please. We have 2 toddlers who will be just over 3yrs and almost 2yrs by then. We love Greece but i'm concerned it will be far too hot for the children then.

Have you stayed anywhere good? all suggestions welcome!

Although we have lots of toddler-friendly hotels in Greece which are very popular with families with young children, personally with two little girls (4 and 2) I think particularly for my two year old Greece then would be too warm. I think you would be better with Spain (or Islands) or Portugal if you are concerned about the heat.

Martinal resort on tip of the algarve, been twice, my daughter (then 3) loved it, especially the kids club and it's not too hot. Lovely modern self catering accommodation and it's not too big to walk around so manageable with little ones. I would definitely go back.

I would second Martinhal in Portugal, which is usually fully booked but there is some late August availability if you're quick.

Another wonderful choice in Portugal is Sheraton Pine Cliffs, where the high prices dip significantly in late August.

Both have creches for under 3s, and both combine luxury hotel facilities with self catering options. Portugal is reliably warm but the local breezes make it a much more comfortable temperature than Greece at that time of year.

Hi, are you still looking for places to go? I have travelled a lot with my daughter to a mix of, 'off the beaten track' places and more conventional places.
I personally loved taking my daughter to;
- The islands of Italy. Elba or Sardina are great destinations for children.
- Croatia, quite Islands, lovely beaches
- Italian lakes
-Marbella (not puerto banus)
-The west coast of France
- The Costa Brava

Italy and Croatia and Spain are so family friendly for Children.
