Joy riding an Aston Martin ...

Postby Tils1 » Wed Aug 21, 2013 6:12 pm

If you are / or know the owners of an Aston Martin with the reg beginning G4 thats normally parked off the Abbeville Road you/ they may be interested to know that I saw the chaps who were washing it taking it for a spin. (I apologise if the owner did authorise it but I am kind of assuming that they didnt.....)

They were driving very fast down St Alphonsus Road by Clapham Park Road at around 4.20 and the passenger was even took a video on their phone for prosperity!

It was definitely the car wash people who are normally on the Abbeville Road as they were wearing distinctive yellow t-shirts and I saw them finishing the clean when I went past shortly afterwards.

Remind me if I ever use them (unlikely) not to ask for the optional joy riding as part of the service.....

I won't let them anywhere near my car although I suspect a VW Golf wouldn't have quite the same appeal ;)

I think it's good to highlight this issue and I can understand your concern - if he was speeding he should have know better for sure - however I know this guy as he cleans my car, does a great job and is very trustworthy. A lot of people around here entrust their very very expensive cars to him and I am absolutely certain he would not drive them unless he has permission.

According to my hairdresser (and we all know what they say is gospel) Who personally knows both the car wash guy and the car owner and he DOES have permission to drive the car. I do agree though that if he was driving recklessly he should be reported. I'm fed up with drivers speeding up and down the side roads around Abbeville road. It's a 20 MPH area for a reason.
