Sleep expert needed for toddler - any recommendations?

Postby Americano » Thu Sep 05, 2013 12:29 pm

Hello,

My toddler - who was a good sleeper - has become very bad at sleeping at night over the last 4 months. I have tried various methods at home without luck so now need an expert! Can anyone recommend a sleep trainer they have used?

Many thanks!

Hi,
We used Brenda Hart: http://brendathenanny.co.uk/index.html when our twins were just 5-6 months old and she was great. She definitely works with older children too.
She is a no-nonsense, straight-talking northerner (I mean that positively - my partner's from Yorkshire!), so be prepared for that, as she will tell it how it is, but I'm pretty sure she could help you out.

Good luck!

Carol - tel: 07859 393232
All I can say is - she's a genius. Charming, lovely Irish lady. Would recommend 100%.

Basically her advice to us was - get a proper black out blind, get a strict bedtime routine going, and mainly .... if you get the 'food' right, you get the 'sleep' right. She made us do tiny snacks and bigger meals.

Good luck!

Hi there

I'm new to NVN and came across your posts while searching for sleep help for my 4.5 year old who's just developed a fear of shadows and wakes up once an hour trying to come into bed with us! Now finding this difficult to manage with a 2 week old baby!

Severe sleep deprivation affecting all of us now!

I will be contacting Brenda based on your recommendation.

Thanks so much. Good luck Kaori with your sleep probs.

Hi Ruffy70,
If you do get in touch with Brenda - please let her know that I (Julie Sherman) recommended you - we used her back in 2011, but I'm sure she'll still remember us as I think we were only about the second time she'd worked with twins...good luck! We may need to go back to her at some point too.... x

Hi Julie

Of course I will. No problem at all. I don't want to make the same sleep mistakes with our new baby so hopefully she can give us some tips there too!

Thanks a lot
Lisa
