Sash window maintenance/ painting / repair

Postby ellta » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:04 pm

Hi all,

we have original sash windows like alot of the house around here but they really need attention. Some just need painting, others repair (the wood not mechanism) and some may even need replacement. Have looked at a couple of companies but they seem really to only offer replacement or repair, and I would ideally like same company to paint the ones that just need that. Hope that makes sense!

Would be very grateful for ideas or suggestions! Thanks!

Hi
I would be able to help with both the maintenance and painting parts of the job - I offer an expert handyman service and all work is guaranteed. Please have a look at my website http://www.russellhanson.co.ukto find out a bit more about what I can do and see the recommendations from customers in south west London.
Please give me a call on 07973 146693 if you would like to discuss the work in more detail.
Regards

I used Ayrton Windows.

Really nice people and they did a great job.

Having said thatI replaced mine, I didn't have them fixed, but they look beautiful and its so much less draughty

Try Dream Home Solutions from Morden (dreamhomesolutions.co.uk). Not certain they repair, but they just replaced our windows with new sash and they are great, and the guys were so clean and tidy too :D Substantially cheaper than other SW window companies so worth a call.

We used a company called Ventrolla, recommended to us by a friend. They repair and realign old windows and also draft proof them (which has been a godsend in our house). I can't remember whether they offered a painting service too - I think maybe they just did an undercoat, then left it to you to get a painter in. But we're really happy with the results, and would use them again.

Hello!

I have used "The Sash Window Man" before, they replaced a broken and rotting bottom-half sash window for a client of mine and the results were fabulous, the chaps they sent round were polite and tidy too. A bottom sash replacement was around £700.00

Hope that helps!
