Short term childcare desperately needed!

Postby Aliw » Fri Dec 06, 2013 3:51 pm

Hi everyone
My husband is about to go to the Winter Olympics for 9 weeks (unfortunately not as a sportsman ;) ) and therefore leaving me and my soon to be 4yr old son at home. I've just been offered a contract that I would be mad to turn down so I really need some help with the childcare.

I'm looking at all options at the moment - both live-in and live-out but essentially our son is at nursery at a school from 0840-1140 M-F plus another nursery from 1140-1500 on Tues, Wed and Thurs.

I need someone to collect him each day and be a loving substitute for both of us until I get home from work at around 1830.

Depending on the person they would need to start the week commencing 6 January so that you and he could be settled in before hubby leaves on the 15th. I definitely need help until the start of March and possibly till the end of March for the right person as I will be travelling to Asia although I will have my in-laws staying whilst I am away so that isn't 100%.

Ideally I am looking for an au pair, childminder etc - If I am honest I don't think we can afford a nanny but please do get in touch if you are interested! We live in Wimbledon Park, close to both the tube and Earlsfield station so great for transport!

Thanks for reading and hope to hear from someone soon

I am an Italian woman resident in the UK since 2011. I am fluent in both English and Italian. I have excellent interpersonal skills, am extremely organised and efficient. I have an extensive background in organising safe play activities for children and young adults, having organised and run groups as a volunteer. I have gained a reputation for reliability and professionalism in both the hospitality and childcare sectors.
I am highly experienced with children of all ages but especially enjoy looking after younger children, babies through to preschoolers.

(I am currently studying for NVQ Level 2 Childcare which includes a two day weekly placement in a Nursery).

I am highly experienced with children of all ages and am excellent at organising fun and interesting learning activites and playtimes including reading, singing, playgroups.
References, CRB and cv are available on request to interested parties. I look forward to hearing from you.
Warmest regards,
Fede

Have you tried Like Minders? It sounds like you need a temporary nanny to cover the period when your husband is away. We have a lovely temporary nanny through them at the mo. If you let them know your requirements they should be able to find a few candidates for you and send over their details so you can choose who to interview/meet.

I am Itxaso Gaviria. I am 22 years old and I live in Limerick, Ireland. I have been working as au pair for 3 months and a half; I have been looking after 3 kids and doing some housework at the same time. I have enjoyed this experience and I have had a great time working as au pair. I decided that I would want to move to a bigger city with more possibilities for my spare time. My host family and I have had a great time together and we really appreciate each other.

I think that it is a great oportunity for me to get a job just for a short term. In this way I would be able to explore London and to try to find another job. I will flight to London the 5th January, so I will be able to start 6th.

Last year, I finished my teaching training studies. My specialization is on foreign language (English). I can say that I have no problems on oral communication in English.

During my last five years I have had quite many experiences looking after kids, giving lessons or getting in charge of housework. Last year, I was teaching in a state school in Bilbao, I taught Basque extra lessons to foreign kids or kids (8-10 years old) that have problems with this language. I had 22 students divided in two groups. Besides, I also gave particular lessons of maths, Basque, English, science … to 8-12 years old children. During the summer time, I have been looking after two girls; they are 10 and 12 years old.
