Playgroups for 1 year old in Wandsworth Common Area

Postby cyprus19 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 2:37 pm

Hi,

I live on the County pub side of Wandsworth Common and I'm looking for a playgroup nearby that my one year old and I can go to. We have been going to a local playgroup but I found it thise week that it is going to close down.

We do classes etc, but I really like the free play and interaction (for both of us) that a playgroup can give. I'm finding that many don't start till 18 months.

Has anyone got any suggestions? (My daughter follows the classic schedule so has lunch at 12 and sleep from 12.30-2.30)

Thanks

Thanks for this, it may be a bit far to walk to, ideally I don't want to have to drive but i will check it out.

I can walk as far down as Earlsfield station, Tooting Bec station, St Lukes church on Ramsden road and Clapham Junction.

Any one with other ideas?

I'm not 100% sure where you are but would think that if you're happy to walk to both Clapham junction and Earlsfield! then this would also be a walk for you too.

There's the buzz around Playgroup at the Nature Centre (next to Skylark cafe) on Wandsworth Common on Tuesdays 11am - 1pm and a Playgroup at Trinity Road Chapel on Trinity Road again on Tuesdays. I haven't been to either so don't know what they're like. There's also an NCT meet up for mums at the County Arms I think on Wednesday mornings (but more coffee than playgroup) and also the NCT babies and crawlers playgroup at St Michael's church, Cobham Close - I'd e-mail the Clapham coordinator on the NCT website if you're interested in either of these. Also the old Bolingbroke One o'clock club on Chivalry Road. Hope that helps.

Hello

I also have a 13 month old and am looking for some play groups, I live just off Nightingale lane by wandsworth common train station and was looking for somewhere walkable by wandsworth common, northcote road or balham. What time does the old one o' clock club open in chivalry road?
Thank you.

There's pretty much a Playgroup at every church so that's always a good place to look. I know on Thursdays there are playgroups at the Church of the Ascension, Malwood Road and St Luke's, Ramsden Road. Also the Salvation Army runs a group on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I believe. There's a Playgroup at Balham Baptist church every day but you need to put your name down on a waiting list. I'm afraid I don't know the times of the one o'clock club, but hopefully someone else will be able to help.

Hi!
I really rate the playgroup at St Marks on Battersea Rise. It is clean, lots of great toys and I have made some lovely mummy friends too.
The only drawback is you have to queue from about 9.30 to get your ticket..starts at 10! Very popular!
The other playgroup I think that is really good is at the Salvation Army near the ram brewery in Wandsworth..
On a Tuesday...at 10..it is free for the first couple of times you go and then about £2 after..it is quite new so not many people know about it.
I have been to St Anns but wouldn't go again...toys are dirty and the set up is poor! Picky mummy! :)

Local playgroups I know of:

- NCT babies and crawlers - for up to walking age so your daughter might be on the older end? - st michaels church Cobham close on Monday mornings

- St Luke's church - Thursday afternoons 2.30 I think - not drop in, you need to contact first and ask if there is a space

- Broomwood Methodist church - Wednesday mornings and poss some other days too? Waiting list though

- ascension church malwood road - Thursday mornings

- balham baptist church ramsden road - several mornings but again there is a waiting list

- Battersea arts centre - Monday mornings, 1 yr upwards

- St marks - Thursday mornings but you have to get there early!

Bolingbroke one o clock club is open in the afternoons for stay and play/playgroup (except in school hols and Saturdays when it's open in the mornings)

Not a playgroup, but it looks like there's someone else in your area (Trinity Road anyway) who's in a similar position and looking to meet up:

(Hope it's OK to post to other sites here! Just thought it might be useful! I've been in that position myself and know what a difference some decent meet ups can make.)
