New York with toddler

Postby flowerfairy » Wed Jun 18, 2014 4:59 pm

We are considering a trip to New York with a two year old. Can anyone recommend toddler friendly hotels?

You didn't say what your budget is, but my favourite hotel when with the kids is the Trump International on Columbus Circle. The one bedroom suites are lovely and come with a small kitchen which is ideal for travelling with young kids. It's also a great location right by Central Park and also the subway is right outside the door with lots of lines passing through. It's also very near a giant Whole Foods so you can buy breakfast or dinner from there if you don't want to eat out all the time. The hotel also has a small pool. The staff are very friendly too. You can sometimes get good rates on hotels.com. I know New York very well as I used to live there and this is always my first choice if I can find a good deal.

In case you wanted to consider another idea, I've just booked a flat on airbnb. We get much more space and for less money than a hotel. We won't be doing any cooking but it is always great with kids to have access to a fridge, toaster, etc.

In the past, several times we've stayed at the Marriot on E92nd St. It was a good price, near friends in a more resisdential area, near the river where there is a huge playground/park (Carl Schultz). It also has a pool but they have limited the opening hours. But again the rooms are a typical NYC shoebox so its a trade off.
