looking for mummy friends in Sw11

Postby Gingercat2 » Wed Jul 02, 2014 9:22 pm

Hi! I'm looking to find some new mummy friends. Most of my nct group moved away or went back to work full time :( I have an 18 month old happy little boy. It would be great to find him some playmates of a similar age and for me too!
Looking forward to hearing from you. :D

Hi,

A friend of mine has just launched MatchUpMums, which puts you in touch with like-minded, local mum friends. It's a fantastic idea! Her website is:

www.matchupmums.com

I'd also suggest joining some local playgroups-there is one on Kyrle Rd, in Broomwood Methodist Church Hall... It's on Wednesdays from 9.30-11.30 (I think) and you pay termly-it's worth popping in and asking if they have a space?

Classes like Tumble Tots (same venue as above!) are also good for meeting mums.

I'd suggest meeting up myself, as I have a 19 month old little boy, but I'm going back to full time work/study myself soon... But I have a wonderful nanny starting in late August for 2 days of the week, so do PM me if you'd like to meet up with her-she is lovely!

Hope that helps...

I know about match a mum but you have to pay for this.
I go to lots of playgroups and have met some mums but they are rare! Tends to be nannies.. I don't have anything against nannies.. just looking for mums like me! :)

There is a good Facebook group based around SW London called Babies Who Lunch. I've not done it myself but it sounds like fun, you should check it out.

Hello

We are always looking for new mums to become part of the Clapham NCT branch and we organise lots of events for mums and babies, please take a look at our web page and come along to the next branch meeting - it's a real make a friend for life place! Julie Morris, branch volunteer

Hi, I work 4 days but would be interested to meet up on Fridays? (same thing happened to my nct group) I have a 19 month old daughter and live between the commons.

*stayathome* I have a nanny the other 4 days - perhaps your nanny might like to meet up with her? I will PM you for details.

Hi,

This was sent out a little while ago (March) in the Clapham NCT e-newsletter, I am sure you could email and check the details are still the same, but it sounds like the type of group which would work well for you:

"Our new NCT Joint Battersea Coordinators, Mel & Simone have launched two new weekly groups: a Languages Rhyme Time and a group for mums not returning to work. For March, these groups are running in parallel at 2.30pm Tuesdays at Eat Play Love Cafe, SW11 3BX. Bring a blanket/mat for you and your kids to sit/lay on and £3.50 to cover the room cost and refreshments. Contact Mel & Simone on batterseateam@claphamnct.com for further details. "

It's interesting, this often comes up in my postnatal courses, ie how important it is to also socialise outside of your NCT antenatal groups, as whether you return to work or not, many work different days etc and it becomes harder to have people to meet up with. One thing we really emphasise with the postnatal courses, are that mums get to make a whole extra group of friends and just generally cast their net that bit wider. I know there are plenty of mums not working, it's just finding the groups they tend to go to if that makes sense!
