My son has done a few jobs for Kids London. They have quite an array of big high street clients - John Lewis, Mothercare, Clarks, Littlewoods, M&S. The only thing is that you would need to be flexible with your timing as they often contact you at the last minute but that's probably true of all agencies. They don't charge ridiculous fees then no work like some. It's free to join their books then I think I remember £30 joining fee once they've had their first job. Would highly recommend. Good luck!

Hi there,

I signed my daughter up with Truly Scrumptious. We have had quite a lot of work this year (inc John Lewis, Bugaboo, Littlewoods, Cow & Gate), however I probably won't renew my contract again.

I had to follow up quite a lot with them, and only seemed to get jobs after I made contact. When I don't phone them, I often don't hear from them.

I've also heard from other Truly Scrumptious mums that we don't always get paid the same rates as the other agenices for the same shoots.

Another disappointing factor was that I have only received photos from one of the shoots from the agency, and they told me I have to chase up with the clients myself to get copies of the photos.

In speaking to other mums at shoots, I'd recommend Kids London or Urban Angels.

Be prepared to be called last minute for castings and shoots, and to spend a lot of time travelling around London for the jobs.

We had a lot of fun for the first few months, but it became quite time consuming in the end.

Good luck!

Hi,

We signed up with Urban Angels about six months ago and have had a good experience so far. We've done work with The White Company and Dorling Kindersley books, was offered one shoot with Mothercare which we couldn't make and went to a casting for M&S. They've been very professional and kept in touch and send regular emails to their parents/carers. You do pay £60 to join which covers a couple of professional pics (of which you get two hard copy prints of) they take of your child and their website admin. Their books for the south have just opened actually though I'm not sure of the deadline for applications. I came across them originally when I was working in PR and a photographer recommended them so I believe they are well respected in the industry. They were good to wok with from a client side too.

As grigorjoy said you do have to be flexible and be able to attend castings or shoots at the last minute and trek across London to photographer studios but if you're happy to do that it can be good fun. I have to say though that I have personally found it quite stressful at times trying to manage sleep times and meal times around attending the occasional shoot and castings. A recent casting was between 1pm and 2pm which is when my dd normally sleeps and although we got there early we were number 18 on the list so by the time we were seen for dd's photo she was tired and clingy. We also went on one shoot where dd was fantastic for the casting but didn't want to let go of me for a second when it came to the shoot. I do have a particularly 'attached' child at the moment though (separation anxiety stage I think) so this I'm sure won't be the case for everyone!

Good luck with whichever route you go down!
