Architect wanted for busy Design and Build Team

APT Renovation Ltd are seeking an experienced, talented and enthusiastic individual with experience in running projects from inception to completion, who will be running our Design team.

Applicants should be educated to, at least, RIBA Part 3 level, or have relevant qualifications in Building Technology/ Construction and at least 5 years post-qualification experience working in an architectural practice and leading design teams.

The placement would commence immediately and will be based in our Balham South West London office.

We are a busy design and build company operating throughout London with a key focus on high end residential projects.
It is expected that the successful applicant would have experience of managing all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work and would play an important part in the work and life of the practice.

Applicants should be dependable, able to work accurately, adaptable and willing to work flexibly. The desire to work with, and develop the experience and ability of, younger members of staff is of great importance.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate the following essential skills:
Design and detailing ability, knowledge of construction and site management.
Competence in the use of Autocad or ArchiCad and Microsoft Office applications.
A strong command of written and spoken English.
Confidence in dealing with clients and ability to take instructions and act upon them to ensure client satisfaction.
Social and communication skills in both leading a design team, working as a member of a team and working as an individual.
Be able to liaise with, and coordinate input from, clients, consultants and contractors.
Ability to manage several small - medium sized projects simultaneously.
Full driving licence is beneficial as it is expected to carry out site visits and/or inspections.

The practice works on a range of new-build, extension, alteration and refurbishment projects, mainly for private clients.

The successful applicant would be expected to:
Work to office standards and procedures.
Record information and maintain records and diaries.
Have a working knowledge of Planning and Building Regulation requirements.
Have a working knowledge of H&S, CDM and Party Wall legislation and the designer’s responsibilities under each.
