Nurseries in SW4

Postby sophie7 » Sat May 09, 2009 10:01 pm

Hi to all Mums,
I have recently become a mummy, and am desperately trying to decide upon a nursery to put my daughter in. She will be 9 months in Sept, and I will be returning to work full time. It's not easy out there to find the "one". Anybody have any really good recommendations in SW4. I live just off the Abbeville Road, so need somewhere easy to get to, on way to station. Do not mind driving.

I have looked at the Baby Room in Old Town, but was not impressed with the Manager there. It is also very very expensive, and not much outside space. It was very small and claustrophobic too!

Anybody heard of The Weir Link Nursery?

Any views, opinions and recommendations would be great!

Thanks
Sophie :P

Hi,
Congratulations and welcome to NappyValleyNet! :D

I don't know of that particular nursery but I have a friend to I think used to send their children there. I bet some other NappyValleyNetters can help but just in case I will whiz off and do some digging!

Cheers

Hi Sophie,

I spoke with The Weir Link myself earlier as I had not heard of it.
I spoke with a Mrs Abbas who was very friendly. :D
She told me 'We welcome new parents to come and view the nursery . Please pass our contact details'
0208 772-8597 or visit our website http://www.theweirlink.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Regards Mrs Abbas

Another colleague told me that she will post later today :!:

Hi
Woodentops (which is part of the Whitehouse) has good feedback. If you click here you can see some of the feedback from other parents

Have you had any more thoughts?

Cheers

Hi Admin,
Will be looking at Woodentops nursery for sure. Good feedback indeed. I will let you know once I have visited, and give feedback. I will view via the internet, but just in case there isn't one, do you have address, contact details?

Thx
Sophie

Hi
Nappyhead happens to the best of us. :D

I put my husbands wallet in the bin (and I mean in a bin bag, tied and then dumped in the dustbin outside) and then told him off for whinging when he swore he'd left it on the mantlepiece. I will never forget the look on his face as he washed potato peelings off it.

Anyway... here's the link for woodentops http://www.whitehouseschool.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; its part of the Whitehouse school.

And if anything goes missing in your house - check the bin!

Hi A,
The wallet in the bin is just too funny! I'm not far of doing something so silly though! So far, I have put cereal in the fridge, and milk where the cereal should go! Oh and the other day left the house without my daughter lunch bag! Ahhhhhh, I didn't notice that after 5 mins though! I hoping my brain will kick into 5th grar when I get back to work!

Have been viewing a website called http://www.findmyschool.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. There is 100's of them!

Thx again

Sophie

hi all dont know if people are still looking regarding this topic but thought i would post a few views anyhow to help anyone out there.

i visited the weir link just last week and it is a very nice purpose built private nursery within a very good childrens centre,
the manager is very enthusiastic and helpful, the price is 50 pounds a day so reasonable.

the outside space is very good and the staff were lovely. clean and seemed weel organised

however i went to see the baby room in clapham old town and as said it is small but so are there numbers only 6 in the baby room at a time and ratio of 1 staff for 2 babies which is above the recommendation.
i have been dealing with Georgina who is one of the senior staff and she has been lovely. it also opens 51 weeks a year from 8-6.30 and has a free settling in week. very secure venue and they take the children to the park which i like.

i think it is hard to decide but a nursery has to fit all the boxes such as near home, gym, work, etc so that life is a bit easier

hope this helps
