Gender scan in St Georges?

Postby clapham_mum » Wed May 11, 2011 3:09 pm

Hi mums,

In two weeks, I have my 20 weeks scan. I've always thought I would find out about the gender of the baby, but now I've read somewhere that not all hospitals check for the gender in this scan.

Could someone tell me if they check the baby's gender in St Georges?

Thx!

I've heard the same that not all hospitals will tell you the gender.
But all of my NCT friends and other friends with babies have all been told the gender, I don't know anyone who has ever had an issue with it.

I went to St George's and was told he was going to be a boy

I had my 20 week scan at St. George's and the technician asked if I wanted to know and I said yes, so she told me.

I also had my baby at St Georges, and was asked at the 20 week scan, and another subsequent scan if I wanted to know the gender - but we didn't want to know.

From what I heard, a hospital can now decide not to reveal the gender at all, as some were afraid that couples might be having selective abortions depending on the gender.
