Baby Jogger City Mini

Postby townieatheart » Sat May 14, 2011 9:27 am

I have been thinking of getting one of these for ages but having bought a Maclaran for my toddler and both of us hating it I'm loathed to risk wasting more money.
We have a Bugaboo which we love but it takes up so much room at home and in the car that I really need to sell it on, plus I'm aware from my older child that they grow out of it sooner than frameless buggies. So it makes sense to buy something decent.
Does anyone have the Baby Jogger? Is it comfy to push and not rickety like a maclaran? I see lots of tiny babies in them around SW11 but is it also good for 18months + ? Having tested my child in one I'm concerned that her legs wouldn't be properly supported when sleeping and so she wouldn't sleep well.
I've also considered the Out n About, which seems more comfy but is more bulky when folded.
Would love any help
Thank you

Hi there

We have the city mini and love it! It's lovely and light to push and my son seems very comfy in it. He's 11 months and sleeps well in it, the hood comes down so far that you don't need a parasol. A maclaren wouldn't fit in our car but this folds down flat and the wheels come off so for us it's ideal. I'm getting a double for work, can't wait!

Hope this helps :)

I am a serial pram buyer. My son (18 months) started in a Bugaboo, went to a Phil and Teds, we have a Maclaren and nothing comes close to our City Mini. I wish I had never bought any of the others. We will buy the city mini side by side double if we ever have another. This is seriously a joy to push and it folds so small. My son will sleep in this pram and the sun hood is amazing. You will be so pleased (I got mine on ebay).

Hi there
Can't recommend Baby Jogger highly enough. We looked at all manner of prams and chose a Baby Jogger City Elite. It's not the same Baby Jogger model you're considering but we needed something as good on the farm as on Northcote Road.
The quality is great and it's put up with far more abuse than a Bugaboo would tolerate...in fact Bugaboo must be the most over hyped (and priced!) product ever...amazing what some slick marketing and clever celebrity product placement will do!
Most importantly our 16 month old daughter loves it. Get Baby Jogging!

Thankyou for your responses; it sounds like a brilliant pushchair.
It may sound strange but would also love to hear any negatives anyone has about the Baby Jogger.

Thanks

We have the Baby Jogger City Mini Double and absolutely love it. Both my husband and I are tall and we like the height of the handle - but it would also be fine for someone smaller. It is so good at turning etc and is really easy to manoeuvre. It is also incredibly quick and easy to pack up as well and is very light. It also has a very big shopping bag underneath which is really useful. It is becoming more widely available now but we got ours from Babyworld and have found them to be excellent in terms of customer service. The baby can lie flat in it from birth and the double is great as it is one of the few on the market with two hoods so one child can be awake and one asleep etc. The seats have quite a high back which is good for our ones as they are quite tall but they can still lie flat in it when they need a rest. We have a Maclaren standby but the BJ is a luxury to push along compared to the Maclaren.

We have two Baby Joggers, the City Mini and the Performance, but have used only the first as our daughter is only 3mo old. We have used the City Mini since she was a month old, even though it's large, front-facing, etc. She's been absolutely fine in it. It is a great buggy, for all the reasons mentioned above, but it is not a running buggy and I wouldn't use it as one. That's why we got the Performance as well, despite the extraordinary price tag.
