View of a builders bottom? Chance would be a fine thing!
Can anyone recommend a good builder? I've spent quality time showing a few builders round my house in SW12. They turn up alright, but getting them to quote for my longed for extension is another matter altogether. I know this may be the single task that defeats all us NappyValleyers but please, can ANYONE help?

Hello there 

Just noticed your post. We have had our loft converted along wth a small rear extension to the kitchen just before Christmas by a fabulous small company Elmleigh Construction. After having several rather frustrating companies in to give me extortionate quotes i decided to go with this company purely on recommendation from a friend. A helpful guy called Daniel came round to assess the works that needed doing, went away and within a few days I had a very competitive quote via email. We decided to go ahead and I received a schedule of works detailing everything and a breakdown of all costs. The quality of the work and attention to detail was second to none and both my husband and I are very happy with our gorgeous house.

just posted on another thread re. loft conversions. I've just had my loft converted by a company called Simply Loft, it was actually recommended to me by another friend. Its run by a guy called Rob who is extremely helpful and also acts as a project manager so perfect for day to day running once you get going! My friend also told me they have another side to their business called Simply Extend as she had an amazing kitchen extension done at the same time as having her loft converted - so might be worth checking them out.

We used Dermot at Dermata-recommended here by his wife. He was excellent-very friendly and professional. Finished on schedule, and to a great standard. He knocked down a wall, pit in a steel support, painted, built a cupboardetc. The guys who worked for him were also great.

We used Increase space after seeing the recommendation on here, and I think they must have gone very downhill in the last few years. It was a huge mistake to use them! The build leaders are useless and rude. They say they always finish early or on time, but they run over by months, are impossible to get ahold of, don't show up for weeks and weeks, and don't seem even remotely aware of building regulations. Avoid unless you want to be delayed and frustrated for months and months and end up managing the build yourself.

Hi, I know that finding a proper and reliable company can be a hassle!

When we moved to London, we have decided on a side extension in our house and had some troubles getting a good quote. Finally we have found Lifestyle Design and Build (you can check their website http://www.lifestylebyasq.co.uk/) who offered us a very competitive quote. Apart from being professionals, they are extremely nice and helpful people which made the whole project go smoothly, they finished on schedule and during the whole process we have been constantly informed about the progress as we have been invited to regular weekly meetings with them.

Please never ever use Increasespace. Have never in my time of doing up my homes come across anything so totally useless. They Ignore your architects plans, and partywall agreements...PLEASE!PLEASE don't use these guys, you will live to regret it...
