Dulwich College marks LGBT+ History Month

Last Updated on : 14th February 2024
Dulwich College is an academically selective independent boys’ school in south London.  Founded in 1619, it has a distinguished tradition of inspired teaching and genuine scholarship, and is committed to nurturing a supportive community which encourages a sense of social responsibility and spiritual and personal development where pupils from a variety of backgrounds feel equally valued.
The school offers a significant number of Bursaries each year and warmly welcomes applications from boys who are intellectually curious and enthusiastic to stretch themselves to their limits.  Our aim is intellectual excellence irrespective of background or circumstance.
For details about Bursaries, please contact the Registrar on the.registrar@dulwich.org.uk

DC PRIDE will give a range of opportunities for students and staff to engage in discussions that spotlight the achievements of members of the LGBTQ+ community, look at some of the historical injustices that they have faced, as well as conversations about how to be a supportive ally to their peers. These discussions will take place in Clubs and Societies, assemblies and events taking place around the College.

Pupils and staff are invited to:

  • buy a pair of Rainbow Laces and show their support of LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport;
  • browse and borrow LGBTQ+ fiction and non-fiction in the pop-up Library;
  • a ‘Knit with Pride’ workshop;
  • join Society meetings to hear guests, Keith Noakes (former Head of RS at Latymer Upper School), Stephen Ireton (COO, Rice Partners) and Nick Cresswell (Global Head of Culture and Talent, Orsted) on the theme of the changing political landscape, the nature of sustainability and civil partnerships.

We hope that DC PRIDE will provide a valuable platform through which to promote the College’s values of Equity for all and Respect for all, whilst preparing our students to excel in our increasingly diverse society,” says Oliver Gardner, Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Dulwich College.
