Where do you take your 10 year old for a haircut? We have always gone to Trotters but feel she is too old for this now and her long hair needs a good cut and style. I don't want to spend a fortune but a recommendation somewhere between Trotters and a glam salon would be much appreciated.

I used to look after two little girls (aged 10 and 8) who used to go to Michelle Louise in Balham once they'd outgrown "kiddie" hairdressers. They always came out looking fab (and the stylists put up with me fussing over exactly what was required!), but were charged child rates. I would highly recommend them

Adina at Headsouth is great. Think it's a tenner for kids Monday-Friday. She's brilliant for both adult and kids at a v family friendly salon.

Jacinta O'Neill on Trinity Road does kids and they hand out free hot chocolate and biscuits which is particularly helpful for reluctant boys!

Northcut are good for kids hair. They do a proper wash at the basin, and a choice of blow dry or french plait after the cut. My 8 year old feels like she's had a proper grown up experience, but it's local, quick and well priced (£16).
