We spent part of the Easter holiday on the coast and one afternoon joined a large guided tour of a coastguard station.

The tour was a lovely mix of heroic rescue stories and sea safety messages; all delivered by a gnarly sea dog straight from central casting.

At the end questions were invited from the group and my youngest stuck up her hand.

“Have you ever met Kim Karsdashian?” she asked.

“Errrr no,” replied the station captain, resplendent in life jacket and yellow immersion suit.

“Khloe Kardashian?” was her quick follow up.

“Errrrr no,” he repeated and whilst he asked for any “relevant” questions my daughter experienced a light bulb moment.

“Oh they’re COAST guards,” she could be heard explaining loudly to her brother, “they’re different to BODY guards, right?”
