Gold standard 7+ results for eaton house belgravia: ‘we back our boys’ says superhead ross montague

Last Updated on : 23rd January 2025

While all the 7+ and 8+ results are not finally in, Eaton House Belgravia is delighted to announce that its boys have achieved 14 coveted offers at 7+ from Westminster Under School, St Paul’s School and Kings College Wimbledon.

This is an outstanding result from a non-selective school at 4+, representing a 50% pass rate on entry at St Pauls, a 29% pass rate on entry at Westminster Under and a 33% pass rate on entry at King’s College, Wimbledon, and it is due to a sustained and passionate programme of teaching in the historic Pre-Prep.

The school which has been in existence since 1897, has sent generations of boys to the top schools. Children soar academically with ambitious goals and unlimited opportunities, boosted by individual challenge in a caring culture, where excellence is supported by wellbeing.

The Spectator magazine called Headmaster Ross Montague a ‘superhead’ but, as he says, “We back our boys strongly in a team effort. The whole school is a hive of activity, with passionate and committed teachers, happy and excited pupils and supportive parents getting behind the boys to make the journey to 7+ and 8+, really enjoyable. This, with a strong long-term vision behind the way that we encourage children to dream big and discover their talents from an early age, leads us to the 7+ examination success that we are happy to announce today. Our aim is to fulfil all the children’s ambitions, and that means being happy and confident, thriving at senior school when they leave and having the best chance to attend top universities like Oxford and Cambridge if it is their wish to do so.”

‘School from 2+’ is new for 2025, with compound learning for the youngest pupils. This is about building knowledge and skills step-by-step in a caring and supportive environment. Children enjoy a blend of exploration, play and outdoor activities, including yoga, cooking, dressing-up, an introduction to reading and seasonal celebrations, and weekly outings to Belgrave Square, Pimlico library, Eaton House The Manor and Battersea Park. Nursery pupils also receive early experience in frequent, short, structured lessons in maths and English skills, making them confident and ready to learn.

Also new for 2024/5 is a new entrance hall, library, Innovation Centre and state-of-the-art audio-visual centre or Podcast Studio, with studio and broadcasting facilities. They are designed to foster creative, innovative, entrepreneurial teaching.

The aim of the Innovation Centre is to ensure that learning becomes meaningful and purposeful, offering regular opportunities for boys to apply their mathematics and English skills in group, project-based and problem-solving enquiries, and child’s public-speaking, presenting and computing skills. These spaces will be a source of inspiration for all the boys, building confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

There is an inspiring new library, complete with a cosy reading corner, piles of reading tables with ‘toadstool’ seats and steps to sit on, making it an innovative and relaxing learning space. This means that the Eaton House Belgravia boys have the best possible chance to learn and thrive.
