An education that inspires and stretches children

Last Updated on : 3rd October 2024

At Walhampton Prep School, they are passionate about an education that inspires and stretches every one of their children.

Walhampton are committed to recognising, celebrating and further inspiring pupils who demonstrate high levels of potential and talent. Their scholarship programme is now open to applications from both current and prospective children in Year 6, 7 or 8. Named the ‘Hordle House Scholarships’, children can apply for a scholarship in a broad range of areas: Academic, Art, Drama, Equine, Music, Sailing, Sport and Technology. Passion and ambition need to sit alongside high levels of achievement.

At Walhampton a scholarship is not just about celebrating and nurturing excellence, it’s about sharing it. There is an expectation that scholars will be exemplary ambassadors of the school, not only modelling excellence in their particular subject, but also encouraging their peers, leading by example and sharing their talents. Scholars will participate in extra sessions to stretch them, enabling them to excel in their chosen field as well as prepare for potential senior school (13+) scholarship assessments. Scholars will also benefit from more tailored opportunities such as lunchtime discussions with visiting speakers, workshops and trips related to their subject.

Assessments will take place in November and further information is available as to the entry requirements and assessment criteria from our Registrar. For those interested in applying, Walhampton’s autumn open morning is on 11th October which presents a wonderful opportunity to find out more about the programme. Applications are welcome from those who might also wish to seek financial assistance. Walhampton are highly motivated to secure the highest calibre of scholars and decisions are not affected by any financial support in place.
