It was the most bizarre and pointless post! Funny how it keeps popping up again.

LOL, this thread has amused me for my lunch break, so I guess I should be ashamed that NVN bickering makes me laugh.

I can see both points of view - yes you can get worried when you see other parents behaving in a way that potentially put children in danger, and I think we all see that at least once a month. Although as others mentioned, it sounded like the mother was pulling the child on the scooter so its not like the child was zooming ahead accross the crossing, so I don't really see why it was so dangerous.

But the main problem was that if you were the said mother, you would be totally identifiable from the description. How would you like it if you looked on your favourite forum and found someone dissing your parenting skills? I know that the OP wanted to be descriptive of the situation, but that turned it into a personal attack on said mother. And quite possibly there are people on here who know her and the child would recognise them from the description...

Imagine how much nicer the world would be if we all had to spend a day in each other's shoes.

I am entirely sure that this mum would not deliberately put her child in harms ways so I'm going to assume that there was a reason she was acting as she did.

I imagine there could be lots of posts on here about me - I have a baby that seems to always look like I dragged her out of the gutter, two out of control dogs, a stupidly large buggy and no car. I must appear comical on occasion when we are all tracking off on a mission and it's all gone wrong

Has anyone ever run across the road? what do you think?
That does not mean we teach our children to.
Has anyone ever been drunk? Does that mean we should give a bottle of whisky to our children?

At upset etc etc. You sound extremely defensive. Maybe next time just speak to a friend and not on a public site? Good luck :D

To the original poster did you offer to help the mother in question or just rush home to blog about the situation?
I was on my way to work. What sort of holier than thou people are on this thing, all I did was make an observation and you think you have the right to speak to me the way you have?

And FYI i DID offer to help, i was rewarded with a 'mind your own im fine'.

Feels like someones 'judging' me. Maybe you should learn to let live and get on with your own life instead of creating problems and judging me!!

It is never safe to scooter, run or cycle across a road.

You know, that might be the answer – to act boastfully about something you ought to be ashamed of. That’s a trick that never seems to fail.”

I felt I had to reply. Again at upset and etc etc. you clearly have too much time on your hands and frankly I find your post upsetting and unsettling! Please don't post non relevant information as karma has a way of biting its way back.

Personally I agree and as I've stated I don't let mine. But the original post referred to a presumably injured child being pulled on a scooter across the road at traffic lights. In this context this could be safer than the child using the crutches and not getting across the road before the lights changed. To some degree I do agree that it is about context.

its poor road safety, its bad behaviour. it is not context. it is dangerous. Condoning poor road safety to dangerous.

Yes, I think we've all said our piece and that this thread has probably run its course. Have a good weekend everyone!

It was the singling out of an individual I personally found uncomfortable and it appears from the other comments I am not alone. This incident has no impact on others (unlike, say, the pooping on the common thread) so who are we to comment? Absolutely this site is all about discussion and of course we will all have different opinions (I don't let mine scoot across the road as a matter of fact) but maybe we should discuss in more general terms rather than singling individuals out for nothing more than how they choose to parent.

Maybe we'll have to agree to disagree and enjoy the sunshine now as tenniscoach suggests :)
