I too had a very bad experience with home tales. They are cheap, but poor service consequently when they screw up plans. Fortunately my builder spotted a beam that their structural engineer had used that would cut into our floor below. Did manage to resolve, but only because of my builder and frankly they shouldn’t have made this error in the first place. Cough up the extra money and just get it done right is my lesson

I did not have a good experience with home tales! They tried to wriggle out of problems rather than helping me to solve them and spent time constructing emails rather than speaking to me/finding solutions. I'm sure they'd be fine if everything was smooth. Also, their recommended builder didn't get back to me for ages, so I'm not sure if maybe they'd just taken on too much work to cope.

I had a much better experience with Ash Island Lofts, who were great at communicating and quick to sort out problems if/when they arose. Builders were friendly and courteous and our neighbours have been impressed with them too!

If we're recommending who not to use definitely don't go near Obree.  They did some property maintenance for me (painting and plumbing).  An absolute disaster, they charge a fortune but do the job as cheaply as they can and they try to charge you for work that they do not do.  I cannot recommend them at all.

I have a wide terraced house in Balham in which I want to extend the Family Room/Kitchen by an extra 9m x 3m. In addition to the build there will need to be a refitted kitchen, a new boiler and the usual upgrade of electrics etc., to this room only. I need ideas and drawings and someone to do the planning for me and possibly project manage. Has anyone a builder who they felt really did a great job and who didn’t let them down? Has anyone managed to do this work for under £85k? Would be grateful for all advice. Thank you.
