Re: Anyone tried Ozempic

by Mounjaro » Mon Mar 31, 2025 10:31 am

I'm now two weeks in and mostly it has been a success.

Thoughts on the first two weeks:

1. I'm on the first small dose which is there just to get your body use to the drugs and it's noticeable that I am starting to feel really hungry again at the end of seven days.

2. This means that I tend to be well-behaved at the start of the seven day cycle but at the end I eat normally

3. Up until Sunday night I would have said that this has had no side effects but I had an injection on Sunday morning and then went out to a friends 40th. I ate and drank too much there and felt really "off", a mixture of queasy, unpleasantly full and a bit of a dodgy stomach.

Monday morning and I'm now absolutely fine again but I can imagine it would have been very unpleasant if I had been on a higher dose.

I've been on WeGovy since last July. I was not obese but was overweight and despite having a very active new puppy who needs 2 hours a day excersise and doing lots and LOTS of daily walking my apetite since hitting over 40 was voracious and all the extra excersise did absolutely nothing. I had spent all my life a size 10 and was pushing a 16 - I am short so this was big for me.

My weight gain was mainly due to an increased apetite after I hit 40 and a significant slow down of my metabolism which is age related. I was just hungry all the time and eating my dinner and the kids dinner and my weight was just going up and up. Obviously! Every type of food restriction made me miserable because I was still so hungry, I just wanted something to switch off my hunger and that's what it did.

In 6 months of a weekly injection I lost 2 stone and am now right in the middle of the BMI healthy range. I am delighted! I do not have 'Ozempic Face' but I can see my chin which is nice! My side effects were occasional but quite strong nausea, which reminded me of morning sickness.

I used a private online supplier because my BMI was not over 30 so Boots and Superdrug etc. wouldn't prescribe for me. I used Voy whom I researched and who want your weight and full length photos, taken in the app not uploaded. They had a support line I could call to discuss if I needed to go up a doseage or stay where I was and talk about side effects. I went from 0.25mg to 1mg and that was enough for me. It was about £220 a month. I have lost muscle but not enough that I am not able to do whatever I was doing before!

Another massive benfit for me was I didn't want to drink alcohol either, it seemed to stop my desire for booze and food which I needed on many levels, so it curbed my drinking too.

I'm not on it any more, am in all my old clothes and feel sexy and confident than ever and am not piling it back on because my apetite has been curbed.

That's my 2ps worth!

I've lost around six pounds so far this week although I was big so it may sound like a lot but as a % it's not.

No side-effects so far, it really is as though someone has just turned off my appetite.

I don't feel hungry, I don't feel full, I just don't feel anything.

Imagine if someone said to you "is your arm hungry?" and you'd just think what a stupid question, my arm doesn't have those feelings at all. That's how my stomach feels.

I am exercising, gym and netball, and when I used to play sport or work-out I'd be wondering what I'd have for supper, now I don't.

"Movements" are all normal and I've had two small glasses of wine and a few coffees.

So far it's effective but it's a bit weird, as that part of me has gone.

I think it's worth adding that significant weight loss even without drugs aiding it can lead to gall stones (and associated hospitalising risks like Pancreatitis).

Source: Wife who had to have her gall bladder out last month after losing lots of weight without Ozempic/Mounjaro.

First jab given this morning.

Lowest dose to start and then building up.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi,
A man I chat to when I go swimming at my local leisure centre was prescribed Mounjaro about a year ago. He was very overweight and initially lost a vast amount of weight and was able to gradually increase the amount of exercise he undertook. My issue with it is that he hasn't been given any dietary advice so carried on eating what he was used to (which by his own admission wasnt healthy and balanced) but smaller portions. All the jab appeared to do was curb his hunger. Last week he spent three nights in hospital. He was in agonising pain and they deduced that he had gall stones. He looked dreadful when I saw him last Thursday and I havent seen him since so do hope he is okay. We really don't know what the long term effects will be taking these jabs.

It definitely has very different effects on different people. My husband went on it the same time as his friend. Both very similar weights and both same dosage. His friend could barely eat, my husband it made zero difference to his appetite. He is now doing Human Being Diet alongside and weight is falling off. Am hopeful then when he starts eating normally but healthily it will just help retain that behaviour. It’s also good to know he’s healing his gut at the same time!

I've followed this thread and as a result I've ordered some Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) from Oushk.

Arrives next week and I'll start then.

I"ll keep you all posted as to progress.

Thank you.

Wow that certainly sounds unusual. Out of interest what dosage(s) were you on in that time?

I tried it for 6 months and lost all of 2kg.

People talk about it like it's a wonder drug but did nothing for me - could have flushed the £1k down the toilet and gotten similar results. I think it needs to agree with your particular type of weight gain to be effective.

Weirdly when I tried to talk about my experience in other groups I was met with pitchforks so I imagine for every online community where there are success stories there are equally a host of people like myself who were hoping for the best but left really disappointed.

Why?  Muddyboots wading in again...  Perhaps, if you have no direct experience, I would suggest that you really have nothing to contribute and the sensationalist crap that you've either Googled or read in the Daily Mail really doesnt help.  Since you've no first hand experience, please keep quiet and listen: you might learn something.

Anytime you lose weight you are at risk of losing muscle mass . That is why it is best to lose a little weight over a long period of time .

Don't do it - I know two people who have been hospitalised as a result. One developed 5 blood clots due to a reaction with her birth control medication and is now on blood thinners for the longer term. The other has a serious glucose problem.

by Wegovy too » Fri Jan 03, 2025 4:50 pm

So to summarise what others have asked and answered:

1. Take Wegovy not the others
2. Side effects mixed but it mainly punishes you for excess eating and drinking so keep it sensible
3. Boots can supply but wherever you go make sure it's genuine and they'll loop in your GP

An extra question from me, I've heard that it reduces muscle mass, is that true? I work out a lot and want to lose fat but not muscle.

Hi,
I haven't tried it or know anyone who has but just wanted to say I have 2 mum friends who used weight watchers nearby and lost a lot of weight and now in the healthy range amd feel a lot better
. Both have full tike jobs and young children and were struggling with it all. Do consider that too. They found the weigh ins and keeping track of food and exercise in a group setting sp helpful and they said their appetite just shrunk with time and it became effortless...
Either way, best of luck
