Hi I am keen to join any group who is hiring a private teacher to teach Mandarin. I saw a previous post on this. Is this still going on? My daughter will be turning 3 in June this year. I am based in Wimbledon and would need a class that is held of Sat or Sun. Please PM me or reply here!

I have researched extensively and couldn't find any Chinese tuitions locally. The one in Oliver House is no longer running. My older one is turning 7 soon (Year 2) and I feel that the Mandarin club in the school is more for fun but not proper learning. If any one find any good Chinese groups locally or are interested in organising a private group for this age group please let me know.

I have responded to the previous post for my 2.5 year old if we have enough people to share a private group.

Forgot to say - if people want to find Chinese Schools (i.e. Saturday schools) then they should look on

UK Federation of Chinese Schools
http://ukfcs.info/en/

Most of the Saturday Community Chinese Schools are affiliated - especially those which were originally started by people who emigrated to the UK from HK.

Might be closer then you think ...

Balham to Cheam is about 20 minutes on Southern Trains - as long as you get one of the trains via Mitcham. Then 5 minutes walk from Cheam Station to Cheam library where we hold Cantosing.

You could jump on the 2.30pm from Balham Train Station and be at the Library for 3pm ...

Hi all, there is a Chinese school in Merton called Ming Tak - http://mingtak.webs.com. They take children from ages 4 to GSCE level. My husband is non-Chinese so we don't speak it at home, and the school is pretty much geared up for Chinese speaking families looking to teach their children written Chinese. Ie they believe in the full immersion technique of teaching in Chinese regardless if you speak it or not, so this did not work for us, but thought I would just pass along.

Hi,

I've started a Cantonese Storytime Group aimed at 0-6 years old - we even had a little one who was already attending a local Chinese school but still enjoyed it.

It's once a month on the second Saturday of the month in Cheam (between Epsom, Kingston and Wimbledon and Sutton).

For more information check out www.cantosing.co.uk

Hope you come along if you're interested!

I'll be interested too, however my children's ages are very different, they will be as beginners though. I would love to learn mandarin too, as I only speak broken Cantonese... please may you let me know of any developments? Thank you very much

We would join you all but Marcus is my husband so one benefit is that we all get free tuition from him and our children test all the online homework and games before they are launched!
