Wellbeing tutor

by Bsdavies » Mon Aug 23, 2021 10:39 am

I currently work in Chelsea, Belgravia and Barnes. I tutor Non-verbal and verbal reasoning, and English comprehension for 7+ and 11+ exams, and for ages 4-13 I tutor English, Maths and Science.
My professional qualifications are as followed –
Psychology Bsc, Art therapy foundation, Mindfulness coach qualification, Laughter yoga therapist, Anna Freud certification for Mental health for early years and primary school and family therapy, foundation in Nutrition, Montessori theory Diploma and various other courses surrounding child development and psychology.

My aim in the future is to complete a masters in Nutrition and gain a mindfulness CBT qualification in 2022 to work with families and create a whole child approach for optimal development.

My approach to Tutoring is to create a fun session that is not dreaded by the client and to create positive correlations between work/ exams and the child. There is an abundance of research that shows optimal well-being correlates with better grades in school. As well as this I believe if the child enjoys the work they will enjoy their exams and therefore be less stressed and more likely to achieve. I am also passionate about creating mentally healthy habits from a young age and I believe my sessions help with that.

My sessions run from 60-90 minutes and include many wellbeing activities throughout such as brain breaks, laughter yoga, mindfulness, self-esteem work, positive narratives, gratitude. I also have a French bulldog who is a Therapy dog for schools where children read to her and I can also bring her for the sessions given the right circumstances– there is a huge amount of research into how dogs help learning due to being a non-judgemental figure, creating calm, teaching empathy and appropriate interpersonal skills, and they help individuals develop social skills and confidence.

Each session in catered to the child I am working with and I work in partnership with the parents to create personalised tutoring experience. I charge £60 for 1 hour and £90 for 90 minutes. These rates can be flexible depending on different circumstances. I offer weekday evening and weekend slots to clients and any time during school holidays.

Some of the notable schools I have helped children get in too are as followed –
Wycome Abbey
Kings College
Cottesmore School
Uppingham
Willington Prep
