Tax Return Filing Deadline Looms: Are You Ready?

by EOACC Ltd » Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:10 am

The Self-Assessment tax return filing deadline of 31 January is fast approaching, and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) recently revealed that 5.4 million taxpayers have yet to complete their returns. Don’t let time run out and risk penalties for late filing!
Key Filing Statistics
According to HMRC, many taxpayers are getting an early start:
  • Over 24,800 people filed their tax returns on New Year’s Day.
  • An additional 38,000 taxpayers completed theirs on 31 December.
  • Interestingly, 310 people submitted their returns between 11pm and midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Avoid Late Filing Penalties
Missing the 31 January deadline can result in an initial £100 late filing penalty. To avoid this, ensure you complete and submit your tax return on time.
