I do not agree with you MgMidget by saying that a week or two is quite generous. If she pays her 30 pounds a week, then as a x mas gift for a week of pay, it would be 60 pounds for the cleaner.
I would want to keep my cleaner happy, a week of salary seems right at the moment. That's what I think.

When I arrived as a live in nanny, the mum prepared my bedroom ... Flowers, new bed sheets, towels and a lovely bathroom set ... I think, gestures like this just make anyone happy !
