Re: Air source vs Ground source Heat pump

Another vote for David at Switched On - he’s one of the very few accredited heat pump engineers and will give you the low down (short answer is air source!) on the various systems available.

Re: Wallpaper ideas please.

You need to go to the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre where you will find a cornucopia of interior design shops with all manner of wallpapers, fabrics etc. It’s one of those places where you go and then ask yourself how the heck you don’t know about it. There’s also a few shops at the Battersea Bridge...

Re: Summer holiday destinations that won't break the bank

Europe is so expensive in the summer as I discovered last year when I was scouting around for a family holiday. However it turns out that the Canaries are quite a lot cheaper, mainly I suspect because their high season is earlier in the year due to the climate being warm in the winter/spring. We sta...

Re: Decent dinner party wine?

This is a great thread! Can I piggy back off it and ask for recommendations of a nice bottle of wine to take round to friends when invited for dinner? I have a lot of friends who are really into their wine and I always feel very clueless in this situation! Thanks! I would take flowers or chocolates...

We had mice and caught them in humane traps. We then released them into the woods in Wandsworth common. They’re very cute.

Re: Saying no to my sister?

How about letting her stay there for free but asking for a hefty security deposit (maybe to the value of what you would get were you to rent it out?) That way she gets her holiday and she also gets a massive incentive not to break your (very reasonable) rules.

I think “manned” covers both sexes in the same way we now call actresses “actors” and heroines “heroes”. 😉

Re: Proposed change to Waitrose Balham Car Park - Automatic Number Plate Recognition

Well, if they start behaving like Tesco it won’t be fun! They have their car park full of builder’s vans after they sold off land to development. To sort this issue, they’ve asked the external parking management company to be extra harsh! A minute over the time and expect a fine, same for parking i...

Re: Does your son at Emanuel, Ibstock or Graveney play video games?

As long as he’s playing as part of a team I wouldn’t worry too much. My son has made a whole bunch of friends through gaming. It’s developed his leadership abilities. It’s great for learning to cooperate. When he’s later in his teens you’ll perhaps appreciate more him being in his bedroom chatting t...
