Re: Friend losing a worrying amount of weight

One thing you should maybe ask yourself is would you be contemplating saying something if it were the opposite and she was putting on weight? I would be very careful how you approach it and I think an intervention is a terrible idea unless you want to lose a friend. As a general rule of thumb, unles...

Re: Female dogs on heat - please don't walk them on the Common!

K1999 - I think you're missing the point. We're not talking about female dogs, we're talking about female dogs on heat. The link I put on my previous post explains the issue - please read it. We're talking about the difference between a female dog on heat having to miss out on a walk for a couple of...

Re: Archer Street - Does a Soho Rule Book work on Family Friendly Northcote Road

Did you see the menu? The cocktails (only thing on it) are nearly £15 each! Apparently for that you get entertainment from professional West End singers so it doesn’t sound like the kind of place you just pop into for a swift half. They should probably make it a bit clearer though.

Re: Female dogs on heat - please don't walk them on the Common!

Well said Just-T. I’m amazed at most of the responses here to what was actually a perfectly reasonably post, if slightly clumsily put. Re the ‘bleeding’ bit - this was a pun on the word used as a slight swear word (bleedin’, bloody, damn etc) and the fact that a dog on heat is bleeding. It’s not unr...

Re: Manifesto Pizza

Totally agree. Best pizza outside Italy and better than a lot in Italy too. Pizza da Valter is good but Manifesto is better. They prove their dough for 48 hours and use fior di latte mozzarella. Yum.

Re: Clairvoyant recommendations ?

I've noticed the Hope pub on Bellevue Road advertising clairvoyant evenings. Maybe you could try going to one of those and asking around?

Re: Front garden overhaul

We used the London Gardening Company. The job they did was ok but when we tried to get them back to change a couple of things they completely ignored us - never returned phone calls or emails. We gave up in the end. Just terrible behaviour. Note this is not the same company as the London Front Garde...

Re: Spring half term fam. holiday recommendations

I think the Caribbean is probably the nearest properly hot place in February. You may get lucky with the Middle East or Egypt but more of a risk I think.

Re: how to best reconfigure ground floor

I don’t really understand the wall/bannister thing either. What I would say is that when I show people round my house the two things that women love the most are our first floor laundry room (I’m with you on ground floor laundry rooms or washing machines in the kitchen being ridiculous) and our down...

Re: In-laws voted leave. They've removed my children's freedom of movement and I can't cope with seeing them any longer.

There was a brilliant article in the Sunday Times a couple of weeks ago by Decca Aitkenhead talking about how important it is to have friends who have different views from ourselves (she was responding to John McDonnell saying how he could never be friends with a Tory). It's worth stumping up to get...

Re: Thomas's vs. Broomwood

The others are right - you need to see the schools for yourself and work out which is right for your kids. Different schools suit different children. The one obvious difference is that Thomas’s is co-ed all the way through whereas Broomwood becomes all girls in Year 3 (?) and the boys move to Northc...

Re: Stolen Handbag!!!

Gosh - what a bunch of judgmental comments! “Personal items” means just that - things the girl owns - like a hairbrush or a lipstick. Why do you all jump to the conclusion she’s lost her family heirlooms? It’s quite scary when you or someone else loses your house keys. Who’s to say the thief didn’t ...

Re: What Does a Hairstyle Tell You?

I would say any school that judges him on his hair length is not a school he would want to go to. Keep it as it is and at least he’ll stand out from a bunch of identikit kids.
