Re: Is apple cider vinegar good for weight loss?

I find that eating less is much better for weight loss than drinking vinegar! It is good for your microbiome though (see any article by or about Tim Spector) so still worth taking. But drinking it isn’t going to turn you into a size zero!

Re: Wardrobe Dilemmas!

Cover up cardigans! The weather is so unpredictable and air con in restaurants can be freezing so if you’re going out on a hot day you need to take a cardie with you. I’m always at a loss for know what style/shade to go for.

Re: Weekly big shop?

I do my weekly shop in Waitrose and you’re right - it’s sooo expensive but they do have a lot of offers so for example I only ever buy things like dishwasher tablets or washing liquid when they’re on special offer and then I buy in bulk. I shop there because their fruit and veg is better. In fact mo...

Re: Madrid or Barcelona? Any suggestions much appreciated.

I don’t think they’ll finish the Sagrada Familia in our life times given they started building it in 1882

I’ve been to both and both are lovely with lots of things to do and see. Barcelona is probably more touristy. Just toss a coin and whichever one doesn’t win you can go there next time.

Re: How to spilt villa costs with friends?

Why don’t you find out the cost of a four bedroom villa of the same standard and then subtract that from the cost of the six bedroom one and ask them to pay the difference. Hopefully they’re reasonable people and understand it’s only fair for them to pay their share.

Re: Do you allow babysitters to friends over?

A big fat no from me too. You know the babysitter. You don’t know the boyfriend. Presumably you’re paying her - part of the job is you’re getting paid to give up your evening and to be there if the children need you. Just say ‘no sorry’ politely. No other explanation needed.

Re: Air source vs Ground source Heat pump

Another vote for David at Switched On - he’s one of the very few accredited heat pump engineers and will give you the low down (short answer is air source!) on the various systems available.

Re: Wallpaper ideas please.

You need to go to the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre where you will find a cornucopia of interior design shops with all manner of wallpapers, fabrics etc. It’s one of those places where you go and then ask yourself how the heck you don’t know about it. There’s also a few shops at the Battersea Bridge...

Re: Summer holiday destinations that won't break the bank

Europe is so expensive in the summer as I discovered last year when I was scouting around for a family holiday. However it turns out that the Canaries are quite a lot cheaper, mainly I suspect because their high season is earlier in the year due to the climate being warm in the winter/spring. We sta...

Re: Decent dinner party wine?

This is a great thread! Can I piggy back off it and ask for recommendations of a nice bottle of wine to take round to friends when invited for dinner? I have a lot of friends who are really into their wine and I always feel very clueless in this situation! Thanks! I would take flowers or chocolates...

We had mice and caught them in humane traps. We then released them into the woods in Wandsworth common. They’re very cute.
