Re: Breaking the journey to Cornwall

We also do the 7pm departure. Depending on how you drive and what part of Cornwall you go to the journey doesn't need to be much more than 5/5.5hrs, allowing for a quick pit stop. Always preferable to get there as quickly as possible, spend minimal time on the road, maximum time there. Alternatively...

Re: Mark Warner etc

We're heading back to Lakitira this May half term for our 3rd year in a row with 8,6,3yrs olds.

The kids love the variety of activities and childcare. The accommodation/food is probably a 3-4 star quality but thats not the point of the holiday - if the kids are happy, we're happy!

May half term - hotel suggestions please

We are planning a family holiday for May half term with our 3 young children. Unfortunately the budget doesn’t extend to the likes of Martinhal, Sani, Elounda etc so we are looking at a more middle of the road hotel that has Kids Clubs, that importantly also cater for 1yr olds. This leaves us lookin...

Re: 2 burglaries on Salcott Road!

Does anyone happen to know whether in the instances of burglars breaking in through sash windows and using them like cat flaps whether they had shutters fitted as well? I'm wondering if by having shutters acts as a deterrent as it would appear to be harder/noisier to force open a window that had shu...

Beware of ADT scam!

This evening (Friday about 7.45pm) we had a young man knock on our door claiming to be from ADT security and offering a promotion for home security. The questions he asked about what security, alarm system etc that we had in place was all very suspicious and when I asked him to show me a business ca...

Re: Gentleman and a van are great

We used them about 6yrs ago when we moved from a flat to a house and they did a great job then - very efficient and friendly. Good to see them still going strong in the neighbourhood.

Re: Au pair with bad body odour

we had an au pair with exactly the same problem and my wife sat down with her and sensitively told her that she smelt. we encouraged her to wash her clothes a lot more regularly but it didn't really change anything. I'm dying to know if this our old au pair! I know she took a new job with an earlsfi...

Where can I service my Honda?

Can anyone recommend an independent garage/mechanic that specialises in servicing Hondas? I want to avoid the excessive rates that dealerships charge. Thanks.

Re: Can anyone recommend a Careers Adviser??

Incase I wasn't clear, I need to talk to someone about my future. I need a change of job/direction and thought talking to someone neutral could help shed some light on what sort of jobs I should be aiming for that would give me more satisfaction/happiness. I hear some of these advisors/consultants c...

Can anyone recommend a Careers Adviser??

I am a mid-30yrs married father of two children and looking for a change of job/direction from my current city based job - but at a total loss as to what job/industries to consider. Changing jobs at this stage in life (and in this economy) is not the easiest thing to do but I desperately need to fin...

Re: Chinese takeaway

Agree Good Earth is both pricey and tasty but beware they do actually use MSG. We got a delivery from the St Johns Hill branch last week and asked if they did use MSG to which they said they did but could quite happily prepare all our dishes MSG-free. Was still just as tasty.
