Re: It's currently legal to force women to wear high heals to work.

I worked at Freshfields for several years, and attended the session that the article refers to when I was a trainee. Sorry if this bursts anyone's bubble, but back then, the session didn't even represent guidelines, let alone rules. It was done once a year, to the new intake, for a very short time, ...

Re: Massive Spiders!

My wife is a determined killer of spiders (when I am not around to catch them and put them outside, that is). I have tried to explain to her that by killing them she is making the spider gene pool sneakier and better able to hide, and that it's therefore better to let the dumb ones that stand around...

Re: Charity "Chuggers" Are At It Again In The Area

But it must work or they wouldn't do it... It's this, exactly. Charities have limited budgets, and if they could rely on direct donations without having to pay for chuggers, they would. Unfortunately the situation is that most people, left to their own devices, don't donate to charity. I don't have...

Re: Do you tell off other people's kids?

Some parents will take offence, but they are the kind of parents that would take offence anyway. I don't agree with this, actually. If one of my kids was misbehaving and disturbing people I would be a lot more receptive to someone (politely) speaking to me and asking me to try and calm them down th...

Re: Beggars on St John's Road - feels like Groundhog Day

AbbevilleMummy, you have no right to try and make the poster of this thread (NVHusband) feel guilty. Like it or not street begging and homelessness is undesirable and nobody want's it on their doorstep. Should you wish to share your wealth that is your prerogative, but it doesn't give you the right...

Nice one - this is one of the most (presumably unintentionally) hilarious posts I've read on here in a while...!

Re: Private school fee fraud?

Confused Mom, Your son is going to remain on the path he is on regardless of whether you report the other kid's parents or not. "I know it's not the end of the world... hundreds of people leave my son's school-to-be happy..." is revealing, because it implies that the actual issue is that y...

Re: Bully at soft play. What would you do?

I'm sure this isn't the "right" response, but if someone was bullying one of my children, and they came to me upset and asking for help, I certainly would intervene - and to the OP, I wouldn't wait for 20 minutes of bullying to pass before I did it, either. I don't want my kids growing up ...

Re: How do you split your parental responsibility ?

Difficult one. Just finished typing the below and it's a little on the rambling side, but thought I would leave it as is. If he plays sports twice a week after work, I'm inclined to say that you are not being unreasonable. The way I (as a father of two young ones myself) see it, there are 5 weeknigh...

Re: BABY MONITOR

On thing on the BT 250, which we also have: battery life is terrible, and the batteries are non-standard sizes (even though they look like AA at first glance). If you order them direct from BT they are very expensive; but you can get them cheaper on Amazon/eBay.

Re: Front teeth removal

Thanks Mela and KatherineHepburn. Two useful and reassuring posts, band I appreciate the recommendation.

She's fine - they really don't seem to be bothering her too much. I'm hopeful that we will end up with just a watching brief for the time being.

Re: Front teeth removal

Thanks, that's useful - and sorry to hear about your son's teeth. Hope everything goes well with his procedure. My daughter is 3 and a half, so as you say things might be slightly different in terms of the effect on the adult tooth. Hers aren't wobbly at all - apart from the tiny chip there's nothin...

Front teeth removal

My daughter tripped and hit her mouth the other day. Small chip on one of her front teeth, and recently she said both were a bit sore. Took her to the dentist, who said they were probably infected and would need to come out, under general anaesthetic. Obviously that's not great news. Quite apart fro...

Re: Disgusting tweet by Sadiq Khan MP

consequences for actions wrt MP's ... of course not Consequences for his actions? Like what, exactly? Perhaps you were hoping for an arrest, or for Sadiq to be fired from the Shadow Cabinet? If people are offended enough by what was clearly a joke (not even made by him), then they won't vote for Sa...
