Re: HELP - Sooooo we know that this is the best place to liv

Why not try Pitshanger Lane near Ealing? I was raised there (a long time ago!) and went back last week with my little boy. We had great time in the local park for the afternoon. So many kids around (and polite!). Its arguably more community/family based than BTC. And cheaper. Well worth a visit. Goo...

Re: Bolingbroke has it's first Ofsted rating

ANNA MARIA, based on evidence and apologies for any repetition: 1. The OFSTED report flagged the issue of gifted kids 2. OFSTED has tightened up but if the WLFS can achieve outstanding in a category then no reason why an ARK school should not? The WLFS came from a standing start. ARK has substantial...

Re: Bolingbroke has it's first Ofsted rating

A long time ago, in the summer of 2009, I had the idea for what is now the Bolingbroke Academy, after a conversation with a neighbour about the lack of a local secondary school. We then were very lucky to find ourselves in the right place at the right time over the coming months, enabling the school...

Re: Local State Schools - Give us a clue

FR, the feeder model was designed to flex in any given year. It works on a simple pro rata basis. So the more parents that apply from High View for example will then get a bigger proportion of places offered under Tier 1. It is a 4FE intake, so 120 places in total. Hence Tier 2 triggers if the total...

Re: Local State Schools - Give us a clue

Hello there, I was one of the parent founders of the Bolingbroke school. I've enjoyed reading the recent comments on this thread and across the site about the academy. Just to confirm a couple of points on banding and the like. Our original vision was for a secular non-selective local school - hence...

Re: Bolingbroke Academy uniforms

Parents will NOT have to travel to Bethnal Green. As noted in the recent school newsletter (posted on this site) the uniform will be available both from the school and the supplier website. On price point, we spent a lot of time with ARK looking at different options. The selected supplier offers the...

Re: Bolingbroke Academy newsletter...

Also, for those who might be interested in how our local schools are doing, for the first time yesterday there was a huge data release by the DfE. This enables parents to compare helpful stats for their local schools - for example, the rate of progress for high achievers versus low achievers etc. Li...

Re: Meet the Leader of Wandsworth Council

That's a very good question Supergirl. When we looked at the same point back in Sept 2009, we were astonished to see that the local kids dispersed to 49 different secondary schools in and out of the borough. So there was no continuity or pattern to the small year 6 kids going into the big year 7 pla...

Re: Bolingbroke Academy - Admissions meetings this September

We had a really great evening last night with the first of our 'open days' for parents and children interested in the Bolingbroke Academy which is now taking applications for admissions next year. Both sessions were packed to the rafters to meet our new head Ms Edis and it was good to see just how m...

Re: Bolingbroke school - when do they start building?

Building works are due to start in November. To enable the first cohort of 120 students to start in Sept 2012 the plan is to phase the works. So part of the building will be completed in time for next Sept with the balance to be completed by Sept 2013.
