Re: reusable nappies

I used One Life, with one set fine for both my children.  No soaking required, just used to leave them in a bucket with a lid on and wash them twice a week.  Even did a camping holiday with them!  I freecycled most of them at the end, you could try putting a post on Freecycle to see if anyone has so...

Re: Save Balham Bowling Green: Planning Objection

Hi I’m a local resident and Councillor in Earlsfield, for full disclosure. I also campaign to save our wildlife. This weekend there was a people’s march for wildlife, organised by Chris Packham. We are at crisis point with the threat to losing some of our species forever. Access to nature is vital t...

Chestnut Grove Academy triumphs at City Hall

I wanted to share some really good news with you all. On Friday, a team of Year 7 and Year 9 pupils from Chestnut Grove school presented at City Hall along with 5 other London school finalists in the Mayor's London Fund 'City Pitch'. The City Pitch started several months ago with 72 schools particip...

Re: Petition to inprove road safety outside Chestnut Grove School...

I do think some of the demands being made in petition are a bit daft. Removal of litter bins? That's just going to lead to loads more littering - already a huge problem in the area, mostly due to the children from the school. A designated person to help them cross the road? I would hope that 11-16 ...

Re: Petition to inprove road safety outside Chestnut Grove School...

I’m not one to get annoyed easily but this has annoyed me greatly. I drive up and down that road all the time at school leaving time and the problems are 100% due to the children’s behaviour. They behave like they own they road, they walk in the middle of it, ignore cars completely, ‘play’ push eac...

Re: Lady and cats living in tent outside Balham library/Waitrose

Who would want to have a door way as their permanent address? It's an appalling situation in one of the wealthiest cities in the world.

Re: Lady and cats living in tent outside Balham library/Waitrose

That would be a dreadful thing for the council to her, those are her possessions.

Re: Lady and cats living in tent outside Balham library/Waitrose

She is definitely a recent arrival at the library I thought it was usually a guy in the doorway opposite subway There are three rough sleepers in that space. They all need a lot more support than is currently available. The services that were available have been cut back significantly. It is specif...

Re: Lady and cats living in tent outside Balham library/Waitrose

Hi all The woman's name is Marie and she really does need protecting. Unfortunately, the services that did exist to support people in her situation (including safe houses for people leaving violent relationships) have been scaled back significantly. This is why we are seeing the very sad rise in the...

Re: Thoughts on Bolingbroke's first results?

Those seem like really great results, they haven't put as much detail in as some of the other schools. I'm sure they will add more info soon. From what they have published, Chestnut Grove Academy achieved the same success, and that is another school you could consider as it is so close to Northcote ...

Re: Bed Bugs: some tips for you all

How awful. The bed was taken away today, all wrapped in cling film. I really hope that is the end of it. Did he manage to get rid of them in the end?

Re: Bed Bugs: some tips for you all

Absolutely right. Keep suitcases off the bed! Check Air BnB beds out before you get in. Don't rely on reading a bad review, it isn't obvious to everyone that they have been bitten. A good hotel will get rooms inspected regularly using specially trained sniffer dogs.

Bed Bugs: some tips for you all

I never write on here but I wanted to share my experience with bed bugs to help out anyone of you who may have them (and you may not know that you have). You may itch reading this, however it may save you stress and financial loss some time in the future. I have heard from the bug treatment people t...

Re: Balham au pair meet up - Thurs 8th Sept, The Regent

Thanks so much for organising this. My new au pair from the Faroe Islands (very cool and lovely person) will be going along. It would be fab for her to get a Balham/Tooting/Clapham au pair group going to make her year in London the best it can be.

Lost: Magdalen College School Coat

I think my friend's son left this in the 'purple playground' on Wandsworth Common on Saturday 12th October.

It is a snowboarding style coat with his name 'Ptolemy Woodgate' label sewn in the neck collar.

Reward if found!
