Re: Which school to get in to St Paul / LCSG later?

You can always call the registrars at St Paul/LSG and ask where they take girls from. They'll ask you which school your child goes to, but you can explain you are looking to make a decision for primary school...but still, they'll need to know roughly the area where you live. The other thing to bear ...

Re: Nursery and childcare juggling

1. nap - depends greatly on the child, but I think by the time she is 2 you will have a pretty good idea if dropping the nap will be easy (my eldest didn't drop his nap until 3.5, whereas some of his friends dropped it by 2.5) 2. childcare - there are many children going to MH in the afternoons, per...

Pick-up at Newton prep

Hello Our DS will be starting in reception at NP from September. I'm trying to figure out what we should do for pick-up. We both work so cannot pick up ourselves and have a nanny who will be looking after our younger child. We live BTC, so not that close, and I think our nanny (+ young sibling) pick...

Re: CHATHAM HALL FLYER, INFO & PETITION

I so agree with you buddybear! The council have looked at 1 option only, there must be some other feasible options, like the one you mention. livegreen - the private nursery doesn't provide a service to wealthier parents only... because there are very few places for state nursery around us, quite a ...

Re: Northcote road library to close?

I also suspect that when Wandsworth council say the nursery space will be better it is misleading...
The nursery will lose the playground area and they are opposed to the plan, so how can the nursery space be better??!!

Re: Northcote road library to close?

Aestethics aside - do we really need more flats in the area, when the services provided by the council are already insufficient?? By services I mean: - state schools - the catchment areas for the 2 local schools (Honeywell and Belleville) are already so small, that quite a lot of people BTC do not g...

Re: Parkgate vs. Newton Prep - how important is being local?

whirlwind - did your children get very tired from the commute when they were young (I mean reception, year 1)? Re. playdates - what you say makes a lot of sense to me, playdates when they are young would probably be quite rare anyways as they are so tired by the time they finish school day (and I ha...

Re: Do you know how much your partner earns?

Agree with Abevillemummy - I know broadly - he has told me but I cant remember exactly and also it varies from year to year, so difficult to remember. We each contribute roughly the same amount towards household expenses. I think everyone's situation is different though, so different things work for...

Re: Childcare for my toddler while in hospital for new baby

Can you not talk to your nanny's other family to see if they could have your son at theirs for a day?
Or maybe some of your son's friends from school/nursery?

The doula idea sounds good too..

Re: Careers advice for young girl

Seb, re. your last post - I still think she is wrong. I am not sure what kind of university she would get into, but even from a less prestigious university - I would really question the suggestion that the best career path open to her is being a PA. There are many other career options - clare74 ment...

Re: Careers advice for young girl

As a mother (of boys, but I don't really think gender should make any difference), what I want most for my children is to achieve their full potential and have a job they enjoy and feel proud of (which may mean becoming a successful CEO or a successful builder and decorator). This is why I would be ...
